General Summary
Under general supervision of the Director of Application Services, responsible for operations, policies, procedures, problem solving, and supervision of the district's student information systems.
Essential Functions
- Supports and upholds the mission, vision and strategic goals of Lexington County School District One towards increased outcomes for students.
- Interacts, communicates and collaborates with all stakeholders effectively.
- Establishes a safe, supportive, positive and productive working and learning environment.
- Operates general office and technology equipment needed for daily activities.
- Maintains confidentiality regarding all employee and student information.
- Participates in all professional meetings and training sessions as required.
- Requests and maintains materials needed for daily responsibilities and essential functions; provides for safe storage and proper use of all tools, equipment and materials.
- Oversee all policies and procedures over the Student Information System (PowerSchool SIS).
- Serves as a liaison between the school district and South Carolina Department of Education (SCDE) for application services and state reporting, as well as school administration, school staff, Student Data Specialist, district office personnel, and information technology staff.
- Maintains configuration and updates for the student information system's state and federal reporting features are in place in a timely manner to support district operations, data collections, integrations, and requests related to state and federal funding.
- Provides SIS training and support for all district staff on programs related to various positions.
- Prepares SIS training documentation for all school and district staff for district applications.
- Coordinates quarterly Student Data Specialists meetings and monthly collaborative planning days.
- Coordinate all SIS activities necessary to adhere to Federal, State and Local regulations.
- Supervise the SIS IT Associate roles that currently support schools with PowerSchool.
- Supervise the activities of the school Student Data Specialist in the schools.
- Ensure that the school Student Data Specialist role adheres to Federal, State and Local regulations.
- Coordinate the duties of the school Student Data Specialist and schedules all needed deadlines throughout the school year.
- Coordinate the proper onboarding, training, and professional development of the school Student Data Specialists.
- Coordinates regular training meetings with all school Student Data Specialists.
- Evaluate each school Student Data Specialist annually and submits findings to the school principal.
- Recommends the move of assignment location to different school or grade band if necessary to the school principal.
- Audits data entry coding in PowerSchool and directs resolution of errors, missing or incomplete data.
- Coordinates regular meetings between IT, the school Student Data Specialist, and the School Administrator.
- Closely monitors data quality, validations, and new data requirements and communicates specific coding instructions to school Student Data Specialist and IT Associates.
- Coordinates all efforts to ensure data quality with other agencies and district departments, including by not limited to Finance, Human Resources, Instructional Services, Student Counseling, Special Education Services.
- Oversees state reporting and ensures resolution to SCDE system(s) issues concerning the movement of student data between programs.
- Demonstrates proficiency in SQL server including complex query development, strong data analysis, expert use of database management tools.
- Provides direction for development of dashboards and enterprise reporting.
- Functions as a district advocate/liaison with vendors and state agencies for needs, issues, enhancements, upgrades, new components, and product roadmaps.
- Manages and disseminates state and federal requests and data collection requirements and implements processes with appropriate IT, district, and school staff.
- Attends professional meetings and user conference(s) to network with vendors and other customers/users, participates in training, presentation sessions, and seeks opportunities for department and district improvement.
- Effectively uses personal technology devices and software applications for the management of pertinent information and communication.
- Performs other job-related duties as assigned.
Supervisory Responsibility
Supervises assigned support staff under direction of Executive Director of Information Technology. No direct budgetary responsibilities.
