Job Description:
Are you passionate about public health education and advancing health equity on campus? Apply to the Peer Advocates for Wellness (PAWs) program! PAWs work with the Health Promotion Specialist to provide students with engaging resources, education, and events. Topics covered include mental health and emotional well-being, alcohol and other drug use, harm reduction, sexual violence prevention, healthy relationships, and safer sex. Students will work 3-5 hours per week for $15 per hour. PAWs will attend weekly team meetings, health promotion trainings, and facilitate events.
Specific Responsibilities:
- Develop public health, mental health promotion, and suicide prevention initiatives for the MCLA community
- Design health education curriculum for MCLA students
- Facilitate events and programming such as workshops, resource fairs, wellness trivia, etc.
- Collaborate with other departments, student groups, and local organizations
- Connect students to information and resources via monthly Wellness newsletters, social media, brochures, and flyers
Job Requirements:
- Trust fund position (open to students with and without Work Study)
- Open to MCLA students currently in their Freshman, Sophomore, or Junior year
- Must commit to the program for the Spring 2026 semester and intend to continue in the '26-'27 school year
- Passionate about health & wellness education, program planning & facilitation
- Understand how systemic oppression impacts access to physical and mental health treatment; commitment to improving barriers to health & wellness
- Skills preferred include leadership, public speaking, event planning, curriculum building, workshop facilitation, social media, art & graphic design, and research
- Students of all majors/minors are encouraged to apply!
