INTRODUCTION
As a Senior TPM for SRE, you will partner with SRE leaders and engineers to scale the platform that underpins all of MongoDB’s cloud products. You will drive program execution, strengthen production reliability practices, and coordinate cross-functional efforts across US and EMEA teams. Success in this role means smoother launches, clearer roadmaps, stronger reliability metrics and an SRE organization that's better-equipped to deliver predictability at scale. The role will be based out of our New York City office with a hybrid working model.
- Drive Program Planning & Execution – Define program scope, milestones, and success criteria with SRE engineers and leaders. Manage dependencies across platform teams, keep work clearly tracked in Jira, and deliver on time.
- Strengthen Production Reliability – Lead change management and launch readiness programs. Partner with SREs and product teams to define and operationalize SLOs/SLIs, and use incident data, metrics, and capacity signals to drive prioritization and continuous improvement.
- Lead Cross-Functional Coordination – Align SRE with Security, Compliance, Cloud platform, and other engineering teams. Coordinate cross-team incident response, ensure clear follow-through, and build trust as the go-to driver of complex, multi-team efforts.
- Build Scalable Systems & Processes – Design lightweight frameworks and communication patterns that help SRE deliver reliably at scale. Work yourself out of the "hero" role by leaving teams better-equipped to execute independently.
REQUIREMENTS
- 8+ years in technical program management, engineering management, or a comparable technical role partnering with software engineering teams.
- Proven track record leading large-scale, cross-team platform initiatives through ambiguity and change.
- Strong knowledge of production change management, software development lifecycle, and reliability metrics (SLOs, SLIs).
- Skilled at shaping roadmaps and managing dependencies.
- Able to query and interpret metrics, logs, or other data sources to inform decisions and communicate risk.
- Excellent communicator—clear, concise, and calm—across engineers, cross-functional partners, and executives.
- Low-ego, highly collaborative, and motivated by ownership of hard problems end to end.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Hands-on or close-partner experience with Kubernetes, cloud networking, or observability stacks (metrics, logs, tracing, alerting).
- Prior experience working with or alongside SRE teams.
- Background in large-scale cloud infrastructure or platform engineering.
- Familiarity with MongoDB Atlas or other modern cloud database platforms.
WHY THIS ROLE
This role puts MongoDB's values into practice. You'll own hard, ambiguous problems end to end. You'll build together with SRE, engineering, Security, and Compliance to co-create solutions that work across the organization. And you'll think big—scaling the platform and practices that power MongoDB's next phase of growth. You'll be in the critical path of high-impact projects, working with executive stakeholders, and supported to grow in your career.

Align your credentials to MongoDB's stack
MongoDB prioritizes hands-on experience with distributed systems, cloud platforms, and database technologies. Before applying, document certifications and project work that map directly to MongoDB's core product, Atlas, and its ecosystem.
Filter open roles using Migrate Mate
Use Migrate Mate to browse Technician openings at MongoDB filtered by visa type. It surfaces roles where MongoDB has an active sponsorship pattern, saving you time you'd otherwise spend cross-referencing job boards with DOL disclosure data.
Request LCA details before your offer deadline
MongoDB must file a Labor Condition Application with DOL before your H-1B petition. Ask your recruiter early where the role is based, since prevailing wage levels vary by location and affect your LCA wage floor.
Prepare for technical interviews with database-specific depth
MongoDB's Technician interviews test database architecture knowledge, not just general IT skills. Expect scenario questions around replication, sharding, and query optimization. Candidates who demonstrate production-level MongoDB experience clear the technical bar faster.

Find Technician at MongoDB JobsFrequently Asked Questions
Does MongoDB sponsor H-1B visas for Technicians?
Yes, MongoDB sponsors H-1B visas for Technician roles. Because H-1B is subject to the annual lottery, timing matters. If you're already in H-1B status and changing employers, MongoDB can file a transfer petition without waiting for the cap. New applicants need to plan around the April lottery window and the October 1 start date.
How do I apply for Technician jobs at MongoDB?
Apply directly through MongoDB's careers portal. Tailor your application to highlight database infrastructure experience and any hands-on work with MongoDB products. If you need visa sponsorship, indicate that clearly early in the process. You can also browse verified Technician openings at MongoDB filtered by visa type on Migrate Mate, which surfaces roles with a confirmed sponsorship history.
Which visa types does MongoDB commonly use for Technician roles?
MongoDB sponsors H-1B, E-3, TN, F-1 OPT, F-1 CPT, and EB-2 or EB-3 immigrant visas for Technician positions. E-3 is available only to Australian citizens and has no lottery. TN applies to Canadian and Mexican nationals under USMCA. F-1 OPT is typically used for recent graduates in a transitional capacity before an H-1B petition is filed.
What qualifications does MongoDB expect for sponsored Technician roles?
MongoDB's Technician roles generally require a bachelor's degree in computer science, information systems, or a related field, combined with hands-on experience in database administration, cloud infrastructure, or technical support engineering. Familiarity with MongoDB Atlas, replica sets, or aggregation pipelines strengthens your application significantly. Relevant certifications from MongoDB University are a practical differentiator.
How do I time my application given visa processing requirements?
If you're on F-1 OPT, apply at least three to four months before your authorization expires to allow time for H-1B cap registration in April and USCIS processing. E-3 and TN applicants have more flexibility since both can be processed at a U.S. consulate without a lottery. For PERM-based Green Card sponsorship, expect the full process to span multiple years regardless of when it starts.
