Who We Are
The Internal Data team powers decisions and applications across MongoDB, organized around four core business areas: CustomerGTM, Product & Technology, Finance, and EmployeeHR. We build and scale the data products MongoDB employees rely on every day, including data pipelines, datasets, dashboards, APIs, ML models, and frameworks that form the backbone of our internal data ecosystem. Our work directly enables teams to hit their KPIs, automate workflows, and build the AI and BI capabilities that drive the business forward.
We treat data as a product. That means applying the same rigor, user focus, and outcome orientation to internal data that MongoDB brings to its external platform. As the company continues to grow, the scope and stakes of that work grow with it.
This role is focused on our Finance domain, where data products support smarter planning, forecasting, spend efficiency, and financial performance analysis. If you want to build data products that matter at scale, this is the role for you.
This role can be based out of one of our NYC, Austin, Palo Alto, or San Francisco office locations or remotely in the United States.
In this role you will own Finance-focused data products end to end, partnering with cross-functional teams to help shape product strategy, set priorities, define requirements, and drive delivery.
You will build and maintain pipelines, datasets, dashboards, APIs, and frameworks that Finance teams rely on daily for planning, forecasting, and performance analysis, while also contributing to the data management tools and services that power AI and BI across the company.
A significant part of the work is understanding your stakeholders. You will spend time with Finance teams learning their workflows, translating their needs into clear requirements and user stories, and building relationships across Finance, engineering, and technical counterparts.
You will keep the voice of the user central in prioritization and discovery, help shape the roadmap for Finance-focused data products, and push for the right solutions even when the ask is not fully formed.
You will own your product backlog, break complex problems into well-scoped increments, manage dependencies across technical teams, and support agile delivery from sprint planning through release. You will make thoughtful tradeoff decisions across business impact, technical feasibility, and timelines, while balancing new feature delivery with long-term platform health.
You will define success metrics and track adoption, usability, and business value. You will also drive adoption through documentation, onboarding, rollouts, and change management.
When issues arise, you will partner with engineering and Finance teams to drive resolution and capture what can be learned for next time.
What We're Looking For
- 3 to 5 years of product management experience with a focus on data products, platforms, analytics, or internal business systems, including at least one year at a modern, high-growth company
- Direct experience partnering with Finance stakeholders on planning, forecasting, or reporting workflows
- Solid foundation in data, analytics, and technical product management, with the ability to work effectively with engineering on technical details while staying focused on user value and business outcomes
- Familiarity with modern data platforms and scalable architecture concepts such as lakehouse or medallion models
- Experience working with sensitive financial data, including SOX-related processes, with sound judgment on balancing controls with execution speed
- Strong communication skills across technical and non-technical audiences, with the ability to give stakeholders clear visibility into product direction, progress, and risk
- Comfortable operating with guidance from senior product and data leaders while independently owning your area and driving work forward with a high degree of accountability

Frame your PM credentials around technical depth
MongoDB's PM hiring expects fluency with developer-facing products and data platforms. Before applying, document projects where you drove roadmap decisions for APIs, databases, or infrastructure tools, this directly maps to what their interview panels assess.
Target roles tied to Atlas or enterprise products
MongoDB's product org is organized around specific product lines like Atlas, Atlas Stream Processing, and enterprise data integration. Applying to a named product area signals intent and gives your visa petition a clearer specialty occupation framing for USCIS review.
Verify your visa type appears in their active sponsorship mix
MongoDB sponsors H-1B, E-3, TN, F-1 OPT, and Green Card pathways. If you're on CPT or approaching OPT expiration, confirm your timeline against USCIS processing windows before your first interview so you and the recruiter are aligned on urgency.
Clarify sponsorship scope during the offer stage
Ask specifically whether MongoDB will support both the initial visa petition and eventual Green Card filing under EB-2 or EB-3. For a Manager-level role, PERM sponsorship is common, but timelines and employer commitment should be confirmed before you accept.
Use Migrate Mate to identify current Manager PM openings
MongoDB posts Manager, Product Management roles across multiple locations and product lines, and openings move quickly. Use Migrate Mate to filter active MongoDB listings by your visa type so you're applying to roles where sponsorship is already confirmed.
Align your degree field to the specialty occupation standard
USCIS requires that your degree field directly relate to the Product Management role. A computer science, information systems, or engineering background maps cleanly to MongoDB's technical PM requirements. If your degree is adjacent, prepare a written equivalency argument with relevant coursework and professional experience documented.
Frequently Asked Questions
Does MongoDB sponsor H-1B visas for Manager, Product Managements?
Yes, MongoDB sponsors H-1B visas for Manager, Product Management roles. The company participates in the annual H-1B cap lottery each April and also files cap-exempt petitions where applicable. Because the role qualifies as a specialty occupation requiring a relevant bachelor's degree or higher, H-1B is a common pathway for candidates already in the U.S. on another status or transferring from a prior employer.
Which visa types does MongoDB commonly use for Manager, Product Management roles?
MongoDB sponsors several visa types for this function, including H-1B, E-3 visa for Australian citizens, TN visa for Canadian and Mexican nationals, and F-1 OPT and CPT for students currently enrolled or recently graduated. For longer-term pathways, MongoDB also files employer-sponsored Green Card petitions under EB-2 and EB-3, typically after an initial period of employment.
What qualifications does MongoDB expect for Manager, Product Management roles?
MongoDB typically looks for candidates with a background in computer science, engineering, or information systems, combined with experience managing product roadmaps for technical or developer-facing software. For manager-level positions, prior experience leading a PM team or owning a product line end-to-end is expected. Familiarity with cloud infrastructure, databases, or developer tooling is a strong differentiator given MongoDB's product focus.
How do I apply for Manager, Product Management jobs at MongoDB?
You can find and filter current Manager, Product Management openings at MongoDB by visa type using Migrate Mate, which surfaces roles where sponsorship is confirmed. Once you identify a relevant opening, apply directly through MongoDB's careers portal. Tailor your application to the specific product area and be explicit in your cover materials about your visa status and any filing timeline constraints.
How do I plan my application timeline around visa sponsorship at MongoDB?
For H-1B, the annual cap lottery opens in March with petitions filed by April 1, so target MongoDB's interview process in the preceding months to secure an offer in time.
