INTRODUCTION
A problem isn’t truly solved until it’s solved for all. That’s why Googlers build products that help create opportunities for everyone, whether down the street or across the globe. As a Technical Program Manager at Google, you’ll use your technical expertise to lead complex, multi-disciplinary projects from start to finish. You’ll work with stakeholders to plan requirements, identify risks, manage project schedules, and communicate clearly with cross-functional partners across the company. You're equally comfortable explaining your team's analyses and recommendations to executives as you are discussing the technical tradeoffs in product development with engineers.
We are looking for a skilled Technical Program Manager to drive the execution and delivery of next-generation XR applications for 0 to 1 wearable consumer products.
As a Technical Program Manager, you aren't just tracking tasks, you are navigating a highly ambiguous environment of a nascent hardware/software ecosystem. You will be responsible for synchronizing complex work streams across multiple teams and product areas, identifying technical bottlenecks before they become blockers, and ensuring that our XR apps are optimized for performance and intuitive user interactions. You will act as the glue that holds the technical roadmap together, ensuring that engineering efforts are aligned with the overarching strategic goals of the XR organization. You will also get to intersect with our external manufacturing partners to build well-rounded products together.
In this role, you will sit at the intersection of bringing XR product goal to life with a high bar for engineering excellence and user satisfaction, working closely with key cross-functional partners to translate high-level XR concepts into shippable reality. For decades, the computing revolution has reshaped our world driven by breakthroughs in compute, connectivity, mobile, and now, AI. Google's XR team is at the forefront of the next major leap – the convergence of AI and XR. This is more than just new devices – it's about reimagining how we interact with the world around us. We're building a future where lightweight XR devices like smart glasses and headsets pair with helpful AI to augment human intelligence, offering personalized, conversational, and contextually aware experiences.
ROLE AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Lead the delivery of complex XR applications and features, from initial technical scoping and resource planning to consumer launch.
- Partner with engineering leads, product and UX stakeholders to define technical requirements, manage internal and external dependencies, and resolve conflicting priorities.
- See around corners to identify technical risks in the XR stack and develop proactive mitigation strategies.
- Establish and refine lightweight, agile-based workflows that allow the team to iterate quickly while maintaining external timelines and commitments.
- Provide clear, data-driven updates to leadership on program health, milestones, and strategic pivots within the XR Apps portfolio programs.
BASIC QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelor's degree in a technical field, or equivalent practical experience.
- 5 years of experience in program management.
- Experience managing the full software development lifecycle (SDLC) for consumer-facing applications at the software/hardware product intersection.
- Experience with the Android ecosystem (e.g., Android Open Source Project (AOSP), Android Frameworks).
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
- 5 years of experience managing cross-functional or cross-team projects.
- Experience shipping products in the Augmented Reality (AR)/Virtual Reality (VR)/XR space.
- Experience working with executive engineering, product and UX leads to balance tight timelines with technical excellence management.
- Proficiency in using data, building dashboards, writing simple scripts to drive engineering decisions and performance optimizations for fast-paced environments.

Frame your PM credentials around Google's scale
Google's hiring bar for PM managers emphasizes experience owning products at scale and leading teams through ambiguity. Tailor your resume and case studies to show cross-functional leadership on products with large user bases, not just feature delivery.
Target roles labeled Manager versus Staff PM
Google distinguishes between individual contributor PM levels and people-manager tracks. Apply specifically to roles with 'Manager' in the title to land in the sponsorship pipeline that matches your seniority, since visa petitions are tied to the exact position filed.
Ask about LCA filing timing before signing your offer
Google must file a Labor Condition Application with the DOL before your H-1B petition reaches USCIS. Confirm with your recruiter when this step begins so you can plan your start date accurately. LCA certification typically takes seven business days.
Search verified sponsoring employers before applying
Find Manager, Product Management roles at Google that are open to visa sponsorship using Migrate Mate, which filters job listings by visa type so you can confirm sponsorship availability before investing time in the application process.
Prepare for a longer interview loop if you're status-constrained
Google's PM interview process typically runs six to eight weeks across recruiter screens, a hiring manager call, and a full loop with case and leadership rounds. If you're on OPT with a short runway, flag your authorization timeline to your recruiter early so they can prioritize scheduling.

Find Manager, Product Management at Google JobsFrequently Asked Questions
Does Google sponsor H-1B visas for Manager, Product Managements?
Yes, Google sponsors H-1B visas for Manager, Product Management roles. Because the H-1B is subject to an annual cap and lottery, Google typically submits registrations in March for a projected October start date. If you're already on an H-1B with another employer, Google can file an H-1B transfer that lets you start before USCIS issues a final approval.
How do I apply for Manager, Product Management jobs at Google?
Apply through Google's careers portal or browse open roles on Migrate Mate, which filters specifically for positions open to visa sponsorship. Google's PM hiring process typically includes a recruiter screen, a hiring manager conversation, and a full interview loop covering product strategy, analytical thinking, and leadership. Tailoring your application to show experience leading PM teams on large-scale products strengthens your candidacy.
Which visa types does Google commonly use for Manager, Product Management roles?
Google sponsors H-1B, H-1B1, and E-3 visas for Manager, Product Management positions. The H-1B applies to most international candidates and requires passing the annual lottery. The H-1B1 is available to citizens of Chile and Singapore and skips the lottery. The E-3 is exclusive to Australian citizens, also lottery-free, and can be filed at any point in the year.
What qualifications does Google expect for a Manager, Product Management role?
Google typically expects a bachelor's degree in a technical or business field, with a master's degree or MBA viewed favorably for management-level roles. Beyond credentials, the emphasis is on demonstrated experience managing PM teams, setting product strategy at scale, and driving cross-functional alignment across engineering, design, and go-to-market functions. Industry experience in areas like cloud, ads, or consumer platforms is relevant depending on the team.
How do I time my H-1B sponsorship if I'm currently on OPT?
If you're on F-1 OPT, Google would need to submit your H-1B registration during the March cap season for an October 1 start. If you have STEM OPT, you may have enough runway to complete the interview process and receive a selection notice before your authorization expires. Confirm your OPT end date with your recruiter at the outset so Google's immigration team can assess whether cap-gap protection applies in your case.
