As we move towards an agentic future, we are rethinking our ad formats, diversifying our demand mix, building new sponsorship and branded content products, and strengthening the supply quality.
We're looking for a senior product leader to own this transformation end to end. You will be the single accountable person for MSN monetization strategy, product development, and revenue performance. You'll work across engineering, sales, leadership, and finance to ship products that grow the business while improving the user experience.
Microsoft’s mission is to empower every person and every organization on the planet to achieve more. As employees we come together with a growth mindset, innovate to empower others, and collaborate to realize our shared goals. Each day we build on our values of respect, integrity, and accountability to create a culture of inclusion where everyone can thrive at work and beyond.
Starting January 26, 2026, Microsoft AI (MAI) employees who live within a 50-mile commute of a designated Microsoft office in the U.S. or 25-mile commute of a non-U.S., country-specific location are expected to work from the office at least four days per week. This expectation is subject to local law and may vary by jurisdiction.
Responsibilities
- Define and execute the MSN monetization strategy across our suite of premium brand products, sponsorship, and new measurement capabilities.
- Partner with finance to build credible forecasts and track delivery against plan. e.g. Identify and close gaps before they become surprises, etc.
- Partner with MSN editorial leadership to align the commercial strategy with the editorial direction.
- Coordinate across engineering teams to sequence the technical investments (ad serving, data infrastructure, format development) against the commercial roadmap.
Qualifications Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor's Degree AND 10+ years experience in product/service/program management or software development
- OR equivalent experience.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Bachelor's Degree AND 15+ years experience in product/service/program management or software development
- OR equivalent experience.
- 10+ years of experience in ad monetization, ad product management, or platform economics, with at least 5 years in a senior or leadership role.
- Deep understanding of the programmatic advertising ecosystem.
- Experience building and shipping premium ad products (sponsorships, branded content, high-impact placements) and working with sales teams to bring them to market.
- Demonstrated ability to own a revenue target and deliver against it. You're comfortable presenting financial performance to senior leadership and making real-time tradeoffs between short-term yield and long-term positioning.
- Track record of operating independently across multiple teams (engineering, sales, editorial, finance) without needing someone else to broker alignment for you.
- Solid product sense for ad formats and user experience.
- Experience at a large-scale content or media platform (news, video, social, or aggregation) where you've dealt with the specific dynamics of editorial trust, ad quality perception, and brand safety.
- Familiarity with audience data infrastructure: identity resolution, match rates, first-party data activation, and privacy-compliant targeting at scale.
- Experience managing through a platform transition (e.g., migrating ad products across surface redesigns, consolidating demand across legacy and new experiences).
- Exposure to gaming monetization, video ad products, or cross-surface attribution.

Frame your PM leadership story clearly
Microsoft's PM interview process evaluates how you've driven product strategy across engineering, design, and business stakeholders. Document specific examples of cross-functional influence, roadmap ownership, and measurable outcomes before your first recruiter screen.
Target teams with established sponsorship patterns
Microsoft's Azure, Microsoft 365, and AI platform divisions file sponsorship petitions for Manager, Product Management roles at significantly higher rates than smaller business units. Prioritize these teams when browsing open roles and tailoring your outreach.
Understand which visa fits your background
Microsoft sponsors H-1B, E-3, and H-1B1 visas for this role depending on your nationality. Australian citizens can often move faster through the E-3 route, which has no annual lottery. Confirm your visa category with Microsoft's immigration team before your offer stage.
Time your application around H-1B registration
If you need H-1B sponsorship, USCIS opens registration in March for an October 1 start date. A late-stage offer in April or May may mean waiting a full year for status. Ask your recruiter early how Microsoft handles offers for candidates who miss the registration window.
Use Migrate Mate to find open roles efficiently
Microsoft posts Manager, Product Management roles across multiple locations simultaneously, making it hard to filter for sponsorship-eligible positions. Use Migrate Mate to browse verified Microsoft openings filtered by visa type so you're applying to roles where sponsorship is confirmed.
Get your LCA implications straight before negotiating
Microsoft must file a Labor Condition Application with the DOL certifying your offered wage meets the prevailing wage for your role and location. Understand that your compensation is tied to the LCA wage level, which affects how you evaluate and negotiate any offer.
Frequently Asked Questions
Does Microsoft sponsor H-1B visas for Manager, Product Managements?
Yes, Microsoft sponsors H-1B visas for Manager, Product Management roles. Microsoft is one of the most active H-1B sponsors in the technology sector and has established internal immigration legal teams to manage the process. If you're subject to the annual cap, Microsoft will typically register you in the March lottery for an October 1 start date. Cap-exempt situations, such as transfers from a qualifying nonprofit or university, may allow faster timelines.
How do I apply for Manager, Product Management jobs at Microsoft?
Apply directly through Microsoft's careers site or browse verified openings on Migrate Mate, which filters for roles where visa sponsorship is confirmed. Microsoft's hiring process for this level typically involves a recruiter screen, a hiring manager conversation, and a full loop of four to six interviews covering product strategy, leadership, execution, and cross-functional collaboration. Preparing structured examples aligned to Microsoft's PM competencies before the loop gives you the strongest foundation.
Which visa types does Microsoft commonly sponsor for Manager, Product Management roles?
Microsoft sponsors H-1B, E-3 visa, and H-1B1 visas for Manager, Product Management positions, along with Green Card pathways through EB-2 and EB-3 classifications. Australian citizens are eligible for the E-3 visa, which bypasses the H-1B lottery and has a much faster path to approval. Chilean and Singaporean nationals may qualify for the H-1B1 visa. Your nationality determines which options are available, and Microsoft's immigration team will advise you during the offer stage.
What qualifications and experience does Microsoft expect for Manager, Product Management roles?
Microsoft typically expects a bachelor's degree in a relevant field such as computer science, engineering, or business, with many candidates holding an MBA. At the manager level, you'll need demonstrated experience leading product teams, owning a product roadmap end-to-end, and shipping features or products at scale. Experience in enterprise software, cloud platforms, or developer tooling is particularly valued across Microsoft's core business units, though consumer and AI product backgrounds are increasingly sought.
How long does the visa sponsorship process take once I have a Microsoft offer?
Timeline depends on your visa category. E-3 petitions can be processed in a few weeks through consular processing. H-1B sponsorship is tied to USCIS's annual cap cycle, with a potential wait of several months if your start date falls after the October 1 fiscal year start. Premium processing, which USCIS offers for expedited adjudication within 15 business days, is available for H-1B petitions and Microsoft frequently uses it to reduce uncertainty during onboarding.
