Overview
MSN is one of the largest content properties on the internet, reaching hundreds of millions of users across Windows, Edge, Copilot, and the open web. As we move towards an agentic future, we are rethinking our ad formats, diversifying our demand mix, building new sponsorship and branded content products, and strengthening the supply quality.
We're looking for a senior product leader to own this transformation end to end. You will be the single accountable person for MSN monetization strategy, product development, and revenue performance. You'll work across engineering, sales, leadership, and finance to ship products that grow the business while improving the user experience.
Microsoft’s mission is to empower every person and every organization on the planet to achieve more. As employees we come together with a growth mindset, innovate to empower others, and collaborate to realize our shared goals. Each day we build on our values of respect, integrity, and accountability to create a culture of inclusion where everyone can thrive at work and beyond.
Starting January 26, 2026, Microsoft AI (MAI) employees who live within a 50-mile commute of a designated Microsoft office in the U.S. or 25-mile commute of a non-U.S., country-specific location are expected to work from the office at least four days per week. This expectation is subject to local law and may vary by jurisdiction.
Responsibilities
- Define and execute the MSN monetization strategy across our suite of premium brand products, sponsorship, and new measurement capabilities.
- Partner with finance to build credible forecasts and track delivery against plan. e.g. Identify and close gaps before they become surprises, etc.
- Partner with MSN editorial leadership to align the commercial strategy with the editorial direction.
- Coordinate across engineering teams to sequence the technical investments (ad serving, data infrastructure, format development) against the commercial roadmap.
Qualifications Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor's Degree AND 10+ years experience in product/service/program management or software development
- OR equivalent experience.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Bachelor's Degree AND 15+ years experience in product/service/program management or software development
- OR equivalent experience.
- 10+ years of experience in ad monetization, ad product management, or platform economics, with at least 5 years in a senior or leadership role.
- Deep understanding of the programmatic advertising ecosystem.
- Experience building and shipping premium ad products (sponsorships, branded content, high-impact placements) and working with sales teams to bring them to market.
- Demonstrated ability to own a revenue target and deliver against it. You're comfortable presenting financial performance to senior leadership and making real-time tradeoffs between short-term yield and long-term positioning.
- Track record of operating independently across multiple teams (engineering, sales, editorial, finance) without needing someone else to broker alignment for you.
- Solid product sense for ad formats and user experience.
- Experience at a large-scale content or media platform (news, video, social, or aggregation) where you've dealt with the specific dynamics of editorial trust, ad quality perception, and brand safety.
- Familiarity with audience data infrastructure: identity resolution, match rates, first-party data activation, and privacy-compliant targeting at scale.
- Experience managing through a platform transition (e.g., migrating ad products across surface redesigns, consolidating demand across legacy and new experiences).
- Exposure to gaming monetization, video ad products, or cross-surface attribution.

Tailor your PM portfolio to Microsoft's product areas
Microsoft recruits PMs for Azure, Microsoft 365, and AI platforms like Copilot. Align your portfolio and case studies to cloud infrastructure, enterprise SaaS, or developer tooling so your experience maps directly to their active hiring priorities.
Distinguish your E-3 eligibility before applying
Australian citizens can pursue Microsoft roles under the E-3 visa, which has no lottery and processes faster than H-1B. Confirm your citizenship and degree field qualify before your recruiter screen so you can raise it early in the offer conversation.
Prepare a strong specialty occupation case for your role
USCIS requires H-1B roles to qualify as specialty occupations. For PM positions, document how your role requires a directly related bachelor's degree or higher, not just general business skills, to support a clean petition filing.
Time your application around H-1B registration windows
Microsoft participates in the H-1B cap lottery, which opens in March each year. If you're not already on a valid work visa, target offers by January or February so your employer has time to register you before the USCIS deadline closes.
Use Migrate Mate to filter open PM roles by sponsorship
Not every Microsoft PM posting is available to visa-sponsored candidates. Use Migrate Mate to browse open Product Manager roles at Microsoft filtered by the visa types they actively sponsor, saving time on applications that won't progress.
Clarify transfer-of-status options before resigning elsewhere
If you're currently on H-1B with another employer, Microsoft can file an H-1B transfer petition. You're authorized to start working as soon as USCIS receives the petition, without waiting for approval, as long as the filing is timely.
Frequently Asked Questions
Does Microsoft sponsor H-1B visas for Product Managers?
Yes, Microsoft sponsors H-1B visas for Product Manager roles. The company participates in the annual H-1B cap lottery each spring and also files H-1B transfers for candidates already on an approved H-1B. If you're in a PM role that qualifies as a specialty occupation, Microsoft's immigration team handles the petition process directly with an outside counsel firm.
How do I apply for Product Manager jobs at Microsoft?
Applications go through Microsoft's careers portal at careers.microsoft.com, but you can also browse open PM roles that actively sponsor visas through Migrate Mate, which filters for sponsorship eligibility by visa type. The Microsoft PM interview process typically includes a recruiter screen, a hiring manager call, and a structured loop of four to six interviews covering product sense, technical depth, and cross-functional collaboration.
Which visa types does Microsoft commonly sponsor for Product Manager roles?
Microsoft sponsors H-1B visas for most international PM hires. Australian citizens can also qualify for the E-3 visa, which skips the lottery entirely and offers two-year renewable status. For candidates on the path to permanent residence, Microsoft supports EB-2 and EB-3 Green Card sponsorship, including PERM labor certification filed through the Department of Labor.
What qualifications does Microsoft expect for Product Manager roles?
Microsoft PM roles generally require a bachelor's degree in computer science, engineering, or a related technical field, plus demonstrated experience shipping software products. For H-1B purposes, your degree field needs to align directly with the PM role's duties. Many Microsoft PM job descriptions specify experience with cloud platforms, data-driven product development, or enterprise software, so generic PM experience without technical depth is rarely competitive here.
How do I understand the visa filing timeline after receiving a Microsoft offer?
Timeline depends on your current status. H-1B cap cases must be registered in March before the October 1 start date, so offers need to land by early spring. H-1B transfers can be filed any time, with work authorization beginning on USCIS receipt. E-3 visa applications are processed at the consulate and often clear within two to four weeks of your interview appointment.
