Target roles that align with the firm's core practice areas
Morrison Foerster's sponsorship activity tends to concentrate in practice groups tied to technology, life sciences, and financial services. Focus your applications on roles in those departments, where international talent is most likely to be considered for visa support.
Understand which visa types the firm has sponsored before
Morrison Foerster has a history of sponsoring H-1B and Green Card petitions, along with F-1 OPT, TN, and J-1 visas. Knowing this upfront helps you assess fit and frame your immigration status clearly in early conversations with recruiters.
Use Migrate Mate to confirm sponsorship before applying
Law firms can be selective about which roles they sponsor. Migrate Mate surfaces verified sponsors so you can filter by real sponsorship history and avoid wasting time on firms with no meaningful track record.
Approach the application with your legal qualifications front and center
Morrison Foerster recruits for highly specialized legal and professional roles. Lead with your academic credentials, bar admissions, and practice-area expertise early in your application. Firms in this industry sponsor based on demonstrated subject-matter depth.
Ask about sponsorship policy during the early interview stage
Law firm recruiting timelines can move quickly. Raise your visa sponsorship needs directly with the HR team or recruiter after your first interview, rather than waiting. This gives both sides time to assess feasibility before offers are extended.
Prepare for a structured, multi-stage hiring process
Large law firms like Morrison Foerster typically run rigorous interview processes involving multiple rounds. Build your timeline accordingly, especially if you're on OPT with a cap-gap or approaching a visa deadline, to avoid conflicts with USCIS filing windows.
Frequently Asked Questions
Does Morrison Foerster sponsor H-1B visas?
Yes, Morrison Foerster sponsors H-1B visas. The firm has an established history of supporting work visa petitions for qualified candidates in legal and professional roles. Sponsorship is typically tied to specialized positions within core practice areas. If you're targeting Morrison Foerster, confirm the specific role's eligibility with the recruiting team early in the process.
What visa types does Morrison Foerster sponsor?
Morrison Foerster has sponsored a range of visa types including H-1B, Green Card (EB-2 and EB-3), F-1 OPT, F-1 CPT, TN visa, and J-1 visas. The mix of nonimmigrant and immigrant visa sponsorship suggests the firm is willing to support both temporary work authorization and longer-term permanent residency pathways for the right candidates.
Which departments or roles at Morrison Foerster are most likely to receive visa sponsorship?
Sponsorship at Morrison Foerster tends to be concentrated in roles that require specialized expertise, particularly within the firm's technology transactions, life sciences, and financial services practice groups. Professional staff roles with highly technical requirements may also qualify. Generalist or administrative positions are less commonly sponsored. Research open roles carefully to identify which departments are actively hiring international candidates.
How do I find open jobs at Morrison Foerster that offer visa sponsorship?
The most reliable way to find verified sponsorship opportunities at Morrison Foerster is through Migrate Mate, which filters job listings by confirmed sponsorship history. This saves time compared to applying broadly and discovering sponsorship isn't available after multiple interview rounds. Search by visa type and company to see current openings that match your authorization needs.
How do I time my application to Morrison Foerster around H-1B filing deadlines?
The H-1B cap registration window typically opens in March, with petitions filed by April 1 for an October 1 start date. If you're targeting Morrison Foerster, aim to complete your interview process by February at the latest. This gives the firm's legal team enough time to prepare your petition before the annual filing window opens, especially if you're transitioning from F-1 OPT status.
