Align your credentials to energy engineering standards
NextEra prioritizes engineers with degrees in electrical, mechanical, or civil engineering for roles tied to wind, solar, and transmission projects. A U.S.-accredited degree or a credential evaluation confirming equivalency strengthens your petition before any employer review begins.
Use Migrate Mate to filter open Engineering roles
Not every open Engineering position at NextEra is actively sponsoring. Use Migrate Mate to filter roles by visa type so you only spend time applying to positions where H-1B or E-3 sponsorship is confirmed and available.
Clarify cap-subject status before your interview
If NextEra is filing an H-1B on your behalf and you're not already in a cap-exempt status, the October 1 start date affects your project onboarding timeline. Raise this directly with the recruiter so both sides plan around the USCIS registration window in March.
Prepare for a prevailing wage conversation
DOL prevailing wage determinations for engineering roles in energy often come in at higher wage levels than candidates expect. Review the DOL Foreign Labor Certification Data Center's wage library for your specific job title and location before salary discussions begin.
Document project-specific technical experience precisely
NextEra's Engineering roles frequently require demonstrated experience with grid interconnection, SCADA systems, or utility-scale renewable design. Your resume and any supporting documents for an H-1B or E-3 petition need to show that experience explicitly, not just a general engineering background.

Find Engineering at NextEra Energy Resources JobsFrequently Asked Questions
Does NextEra Energy Resources sponsor H-1B visas for Engineers?
Yes, NextEra Energy Resources sponsors H-1B visas for Engineering roles. The company files petitions for positions in areas like power systems, renewable energy development, and grid infrastructure. If you're currently on an H-1B with another employer, NextEra can file an H-1B transfer, allowing you to start work as soon as USCIS receives the petition, without waiting for approval.
How do I apply for Engineering jobs at NextEra Energy Resources?
Apply directly through NextEra's careers portal, where Engineering roles are listed by discipline and location. Before applying, confirm the role includes visa sponsorship, since not every posting does. Migrate Mate lets you browse verified Engineering openings at NextEra filtered by visa type, so you can focus your applications on positions where sponsorship is confirmed.
Which visa types does NextEra Energy Resources commonly use for Engineering roles?
NextEra sponsors H-1B and E-3 visas for Engineering positions, covering nonimmigrant work authorization for most international candidates. For longer-term paths, the company also supports EB-2 and EB-3 employment-based Green Card sponsorship through the PERM labor certification process, which is common for engineers who have been with the company for at least a year.
What qualifications does NextEra Energy Resources expect for sponsored Engineering roles?
Most Engineering roles at NextEra require a bachelor's degree or higher in a relevant engineering discipline, such as electrical, mechanical, or civil engineering. For H-1B eligibility, the role must qualify as a specialty occupation under USCIS standards, meaning the degree requirement must be tied directly to the specific position, not just a general preference.
How do I understand the timeline for getting sponsored at NextEra Energy Resources?
If you need a new H-1B cap-subject petition, USCIS runs the registration lottery in March for an October 1 start date, meaning you could face a six-month gap between offer and start. E-3 visas for Australian citizens move faster, often processed at the consulate within weeks. For PERM-based Green Card sponsorship, expect a process that spans one to two years from initial filing through approval.
