Frame Your Bilingual Skills as Business-Critical
Oportun's customer base is heavily Spanish-speaking, so fluency in Spanish alongside English positions you as a stronger candidate. Document bilingual proficiency formally on your resume rather than listing it as a soft skill.
Target Oportun's Lending Operations Teams Specifically
Customer Support openings tied to loan servicing, payment disputes, or collections have clearer specialty occupation arguments for H-1B purposes than general call center roles. Search Oportun's job board filtering by those operational subgroups.
Use Migrate Mate to Surface Open Roles Faster
Oportun posts Customer Support positions across multiple locations and shifts, and openings fill quickly. Use Migrate Mate to browse current visa-sponsorship-confirmed listings at Oportun without manually tracking their careers page.
Verify Your I-9 Category Matches Your Visa Status
Oportun participates in E-Verify, so any mismatch between your work authorization document and your actual status triggers a Tentative Nonconfirmation. Review your I-94 and EAD expiration dates before your first day to avoid delays.

Find Customer Support at Oportun JobsFrequently Asked Questions
Does Oportun sponsor H-1B visas for Customer Support roles?
Yes, Oportun has sponsored H-1B visas for Customer Support positions. The strongest cases are typically for roles tied to lending operations, compliance, or financial services support, where a relevant bachelor's degree can support a specialty occupation argument. General inbound call center roles can be harder to qualify, so the specific job description matters when assessing H-1B viability.
How do I apply for Customer Support jobs at Oportun?
Applications go through Oportun's careers portal. Filter by department or function to surface Customer Support and lending operations roles. Tailor your resume to reflect any experience with financial products, loan servicing, or regulated customer interactions, since Oportun's support function operates within consumer lending compliance requirements. You can also browse sponsorship-confirmed openings through Migrate Mate to streamline your search.
Which visa types does Oportun commonly use for Customer Support hires?
Oportun has sponsored H-1B visas and supported F-1 OPT and CPT for Customer Support functions. For candidates pursuing longer-term authorization, the company has also engaged EB-2 and EB-3 Green Card pathways. The visa type used depends on your current status, degree field, and the specific role's classification under USCIS occupational criteria.
What qualifications does Oportun expect for Customer Support roles?
Most Customer Support positions at Oportun expect experience in financial services, consumer lending, or a highly regulated customer-facing environment. Spanish-English bilingual ability is a significant asset given the company's target market. For visa-sponsored roles, a bachelor's degree in business, finance, communications, or a related field strengthens both your candidacy and any H-1B specialty occupation claim.
How do I plan my application timeline around visa sponsorship at Oportun?
If you're on F-1 OPT, apply with enough runway to complete hiring, onboarding, and any H-1B cap-subject filing before your authorization expires. USCIS opens H-1B registration in March each year, with an October 1 start date for selected petitions. Candidates already in H-1B status can transfer to Oportun upon filing, without waiting for approval, under portability rules.
