Align Your Credentials to OSU Standards
Oregon State requires K-12 Education hires to hold state-recognized teaching licensure or equivalent credentials. Confirm your foreign degree has been evaluated by a NACES-accredited agency before applying, since OSU's international office will request this documentation early.
Target Roles Tied to OSU Outreach Programs
OSU runs extension and outreach programs that place education professionals in K-12 settings across Oregon. These positions have recurring hiring cycles and stronger institutional sponsorship infrastructure than one-off departmental postings, making them a more reliable target.
Research OSU's International Programs Office Early
OSU's International Programs Office manages visa filings directly. Connect with them before or shortly after applying, so you understand their internal H-1B filing calendar, since OSU must submit cap-subject petitions well ahead of USCIS's April 1 filing window.
Ask About PERM Timing During Offer Negotiations
For Green Card sponsorship through EB-2 or EB-3, OSU must complete PERM labor certification through DOL before filing an immigrant petition. Raise this timeline during offer discussions, since PERM can take a year or more and affects your long-term planning significantly.
Use Migrate Mate to Find Open Positions
OSU posts K-12 Education roles across multiple channels and hiring cycles. Search Migrate Mate to browse current openings at Oregon State University that are open to visa sponsorship, so you're applying to positions where sponsorship is already confirmed rather than guessing.

Find K 12 Education at Oregon State University JobsFrequently Asked Questions
Does Oregon State University sponsor H-1B visas for K-12 Education roles?
Yes, Oregon State University sponsors H-1B visas for qualifying K-12 Education positions. OSU is an established H-1B employer with its own international HR infrastructure. Sponsorship is typically offered for roles that require a bachelor's degree or higher in a specialized field, and OSU's International Programs Office manages the filing process directly with USCIS.
How do I apply for K-12 Education jobs at Oregon State University?
Applications are submitted through OSU's official jobs portal at jobs.oregonstate.edu. Review the position description carefully for required credentials, including teaching licensure or specialized education degrees. You can also browse K-12 Education roles at Oregon State University that are open to visa sponsorship through Migrate Mate, which filters for sponsoring employers and makes it easier to identify relevant openings.
Which visa types does Oregon State University commonly use for K-12 Education hires?
OSU most commonly uses the H-1B visa for professional K-12 Education roles requiring a specialized degree. F-1 OPT and CPT are available for recent graduates in eligible roles, and TN visas apply to Canadian and Mexican nationals in qualifying education positions. For long-term hires, OSU also supports EB-2 and EB-3 Green Card pathways through PERM labor certification with the DOL.
What qualifications does Oregon State University expect for K-12 Education positions?
OSU generally expects a relevant bachelor's degree at minimum, with many roles requiring a master's degree in education, curriculum development, or a subject-specific field. Oregon state teaching licensure or equivalent credentials are often required for roles involving direct instructional work. Prior experience in K-12 settings, familiarity with public school systems, and curriculum design skills are consistently valued across postings.
How long does the visa sponsorship process take when joining OSU in a K-12 Education role?
If OSU sponsors an H-1B for a cap-subject role, the process is tied to USCIS's annual lottery window, with petitions filed by April 1 for an October 1 start date. Cap-exempt filings through OSU as a nonprofit higher education institution can be submitted year-round and typically process within three to six months. PERM-based Green Card sponsorship adds a year or more before the immigrant petition stage.
