Align Your Credentials to Controls Engineering Standards
Prime Controls works across building automation and industrial controls systems. Frame your degree and certifications around HVAC controls, PLC programming, or BACnet protocols before applying, so your credentials clearly map to their specialty occupation filing requirements.
Target Prime Controls Through F-1 OPT Early
Prime Controls has sponsored F-1 OPT, which means they're open to candidates already authorized to work. If you're on OPT with a STEM extension, apply before your first year expires to give the employer enough runway to file an H-1B before your authorization lapses.
Search Open Automation Roles Using Migrate Mate
Use Migrate Mate to filter Prime Controls' active Automation openings by visa type. This saves time by surfacing only roles where sponsorship has been documented, so you're not cold-applying to positions that may not support your visa category.
Understand Prime Controls' TN Pathway If You Qualify
If you're a Canadian or Mexican citizen with a qualifying engineering degree, TN status can be arranged at the port of entry with an offer letter and supporting documents, bypassing the H-1B lottery entirely. Confirm the role title maps to an approved TN occupation category under USMCA.
Request the H-1B Filing Timeline Before Accepting an Offer
USCIS requires H-1B registrations in March for an October 1 start date. Ask your Prime Controls recruiter when they begin the process so you can gauge whether standard or premium processing fits your start timeline and any gap between your current status and the cap-subject petition.
Prepare a Specialty Occupation Package Specific to Automation
USCIS scrutinizes H-1B petitions for automation roles when job duties overlap general electrical or IT work. Document project-specific responsibilities like controls system design, SCADA integration, or commissioning to substantiate that a bachelor's degree in a specific technical field is an industry requirement for the position.

Does Prime Controls sponsor H-1B visas for Automations?
Yes, Prime Controls has sponsored H-1B visas for Automation roles. Because H-1B cap-subject petitions require USCIS registration in March with an October 1 start date, timing matters. If you're already in H-1B status with another employer, a transfer petition can be filed outside the lottery cycle, which gives you more flexibility when targeting a role at Prime Controls.
How do I apply for Automation jobs at Prime Controls?
You can browse Prime Controls' active Automation openings through Migrate Mate, which filters listings by visa sponsorship type so you can confirm the role supports your status before applying. When you apply, tailor your resume to controls-specific systems and project experience relevant to the construction and real estate sector, since Prime Controls operates in that domain.
Which visa types does Prime Controls commonly use for Automation roles?
Prime Controls has sponsored H-1B, F-1 OPT, F-1 CPT, and TN visas for Automation positions. F-1 CPT and OPT are practical entry points for students and recent graduates. TN is available to Canadian and Mexican citizens in qualifying engineering occupations. H-1B remains the primary long-term work authorization route for those not eligible for TN status.
What qualifications does Prime Controls expect for Automation roles?
Prime Controls operates in building automation and controls systems within construction and real estate projects. Candidates are generally expected to have a bachelor's degree in electrical engineering, mechanical engineering, or a closely related field. Hands-on experience with HVAC controls, PLC or DDC systems, and commissioning work strengthens your application and supports the specialty occupation determination required for H-1B sponsorship.
How long does the visa sponsorship process take for an Automation role at Prime Controls?
Timeline depends on visa type. F-1 OPT authorization can begin close to your start date if you've already filed your EAD with USCIS. TN status for Canadian citizens can be obtained at the border on the day of entry with the right documentation. H-1B standard processing typically runs three to five months after filing, with premium processing available through USCIS to reduce adjudication to around 15 business days.
