Align your resume to battery manufacturing
Redwood Materials works on cathode and anode materials processing, so your resume should highlight experience with electrochemical systems, process equipment, or manufacturing scale-up. Generic mechanical engineering resumes get filtered out early in technical roles like this.
Use Migrate Mate to filter open roles
Mechanical Engineer openings at Redwood Materials span multiple specializations, from process engineering to equipment design. Use Migrate Mate to filter current listings by visa type so you're only spending time on roles where your sponsorship category is confirmed.
Ask about LCA scope during the offer stage
DOL requires a certified Labor Condition Application before your H-1B or E-3 petition is filed. Ask your hiring contact which worksite locations are covered, since Redwood Materials operates facilities in multiple states and your LCA must match where you'll actually work.
Time your OPT application before your program ends
If you're on F-1 OPT, USCIS recommends filing at least 90 days before your program end date. For a manufacturing role with a structured start date, a late OPT application can delay onboarding by weeks and create complications with your employer's HR paperwork.

Find Mechanical Engineer at Redwood Materials JobsFrequently Asked Questions
Does Redwood Materials sponsor H-1B visas for Mechanical Engineers?
Yes, Redwood Materials sponsors H-1B visas for Mechanical Engineer roles. The company's manufacturing and materials processing work qualifies as a specialty occupation under USCIS standards, which is the threshold required for H-1B eligibility. Your employer would file the I-129 petition on your behalf after securing a certified Labor Condition Application from the DOL.
How do I apply for Mechanical Engineer jobs at Redwood Materials?
Applications go through Redwood Materials' careers page, where roles are listed by function and location. You can also browse current Mechanical Engineer openings filtered by visa sponsorship type on Migrate Mate, which makes it easier to confirm sponsorship eligibility before you invest time in a full application. Tailor your application to the specific manufacturing domain each role covers.
Which visa types are commonly used for Mechanical Engineer roles at Redwood Materials?
Redwood Materials supports H-1B, E-3, TN, F-1 OPT, F-1 CPT, and Green Card pathways including EB-2 and EB-3. For Mechanical Engineers, H-1B is the most broadly applicable category. Australian candidates can use the E-3, which has no lottery. Canadian and Mexican nationals may qualify under TN for engineering roles. The right category depends on your nationality, education, and current status.
What qualifications does Redwood Materials expect for Mechanical Engineer roles?
Most Mechanical Engineer roles at Redwood Materials require a bachelor's degree or higher in mechanical engineering or a closely related field. Roles focused on process or manufacturing engineering often expect hands-on experience with industrial equipment, CAD tools, or materials handling systems. Positions tied to battery cell or cathode production may also require familiarity with chemical processing environments or cleanroom manufacturing protocols.
How long does the visa sponsorship process take for a Mechanical Engineer offer at Redwood Materials?
Timeline depends on your visa category. E-3 and TN approvals can happen at a consulate or port of entry within weeks of receiving an offer. H-1B petitions are subject to USCIS processing times, which typically run several months for standard processing, or two to three weeks with premium processing. If you're on OPT, your authorization must remain valid through your start date, so early coordination with your employer's HR and immigration team matters.
