Target roles that require deep technical expertise
Ryan Specialty tends to sponsor for positions requiring specialized knowledge in wholesale insurance, risk management, or actuarial work. Focusing your application on roles where your technical background is clearly differentiated improves your sponsorship case.
Understand the wholesale insurance business model
Ryan Specialty operates as a wholesale broker and managing underwriter, not a direct insurer. Demonstrating familiarity with E&S markets, binding authority, and specialty risk lines signals you understand the business and can contribute from day one.
Lead with your specialty occupation credentials
H-1B sponsorship at insurance firms hinges on proving the role qualifies as a specialty occupation. Highlight how your degree directly relates to the specific technical functions of the job, actuarial, data analytics, underwriting, or compliance roles tend to qualify most cleanly.
Verify open roles that align with sponsored visa types
Ryan Specialty has sponsored H-1B, F-1 OPT, CPT, TN, and J-1 visas. Use Migrate Mate to filter for current openings at Ryan Specialty by visa type so you're only applying to roles with a real sponsorship pathway.
Apply early in the hiring cycle ahead of H-1B deadlines
If you need H-1B sponsorship, timing matters. USCIS begins accepting H-1B cap petitions in April, so connecting with Ryan Specialty recruiters earlier in the year gives both sides time to complete the process before the filing window closes.
Prepare for a specialist interview process
Ryan Specialty hires for niche insurance expertise, so expect technical interviews focused on your specific domain. Preparing substantive answers about industry-specific scenarios, not just general insurance knowledge, will set you apart from other candidates seeking sponsorship.

Which visa types does Ryan Specialty sponsor?
Ryan Specialty sponsors several work and training visa categories, including H-1B, F-1 OPT, F-1 CPT, TN visa, and J-1 visas. Which departments or roles at Ryan Specialty are most likely to offer visa sponsorship?
Sponsorship at Ryan Specialty is most common in roles that require specialized technical or analytical skills, think underwriting, actuarial science, data analytics, risk engineering, and compliance. These positions are more likely to meet the specialty occupation standard required for H-1B petitions. General administrative or broadly defined roles are less likely to qualify for sponsorship.
How do I find open visa-sponsored roles at Ryan Specialty?
Migrate Mate aggregates job listings from verified sponsors and lets you filter by company and visa type, making it straightforward to find current openings at Ryan Specialty that match your sponsorship needs. This saves time compared to manually tracking postings and helps you confirm whether a role has a real sponsorship pathway before you apply.
How do I approach the application process at Ryan Specialty as a visa-sponsorship candidate?
Be upfront about your visa status early in the process, Ryan Specialty's recruiting team needs to assess sponsorship feasibility before extending an offer. Come prepared to articulate exactly how your academic background qualifies you for the specific role. For H-1B candidates, starting conversations with recruiters in Q1 ensures there's enough lead time before the April filing window.
