ROLE AND RESPONSIBILITIES
This position will provide direct supervision to social workers who manage cases of children and youth with special healthcare needs and their families.
The CMS Social Work Supervisor is responsible for ensuring program service delivery to clients, and social workers are following program, regional, division, state and federal guidelines. The supervisor ensures that client enrollment, transfers and case closures are done within acceptable criteria. The supervisor also facilitates access to training opportunities to secure CEUs to maintain professional social work licenses. The supervisor conducts interviews with assigned social workers in order to make recommendations for implementing work plans, conduct performance appraisals, and create effective discipline plans in accordance to State Personnel Office guidelines.
CUSTOMERS
Children's Medical Program's customers consist of eligible participants and the general public. This position is housed out of the South Valley Public Health Office located at 2001 N. Centro Familiar SW, Albuquerque, NM 87105.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Bachelor's degree in Social Work (in accordance with NMAC 61-31-9) and three (3) years of experience in a social work setting such as social service agencies, healthcare, medical, educational settings, mental health, home health, hospice, developmental disabilities, and other relevant experience, working with patients, clients, providers, and families. Any combination of education from an accredited college or university in a related field and/or direct experience in this occupation totaling seven (7) years may substitute for the required education and experience.
EMPLOYMENT REQUIREMENTS
- Must possess and maintain a valid Driver's License.
- Must possess and maintain a current Defensive Driving Course Certificate from the State of New Mexico or must pass and receive Defensive Driving Course Certification as a condition of continued employment.
- Successful completion of Health Insurance Portability Accountability Act (HIPPA) is required within sixty (60) days and successful completion of Blood-borne pathogen training within thirty (30) days of employment.
- All applicants for this position must be licensed in accordance with the Social Work Practice Act, Sections 61-31-1 through 61-31-25 NMSA 1978 and 16.63.1 through 16.63.20 NMAC. You must include your license or certificate number in the License section of the application.
WORKING CONDITIONS
Work is performed in an office setting with exposure to visual/video display terminal and extensive personal computer and phone usage. Lifting up to 50 pounds may be required. Services are provided in a clinic with diverse population, many who do not speak the English language. Monday through Friday, 8am-5pm. Travel to satellite offices, meetings, training sessions, and special events with the occasional overnight stay is required.
