Why does the job exist?
The Senior Healthcare Surveyor / QMB Plan of Correction Coordinator will:
- Train healthcare surveyors on current compliance survey processes and updates for the Medicaid Waiver Home and Community Based Services, i.e. Developmental Disabilities, Mi Via, and Medically Fragile.
- Provide one-on-one training and mentoring for new employees and will provide support to training existing surveyors who may need additional training.
- Participate as team leaders and members, as it relates to conducting on-site interviews, observations, record reviews, and completing reports of findings.
- Participate as the Plan of Correction Coordinator as needed.
- Review Plans of Corrections provided by 1915c waiver providers and ensure adequate QA / QI processes presented by providers.
How does it get done?
The Senior Healthcare Surveyor / QMB Plan of Correction Coordinator is responsible for:
- Conducting and participating in Healthcare Surveyor orientation, QMB Survey Process Training, including Core Competency Training.
- Creating and developing surveyor training as needed and will conduct annual surveyor training.
- Initial and ongoing mentoring of the Healthcare Surveyors and Survey Teams.
- Evaluating the quality of the work completed by the trainee.
- Participating in surveyors as a mentor, team lead, and team member.
- Maintaining knowledge of and providing education regarding various data systems used in the survey process (Therap, Medicaid, Smartsheet, etc.).
- Providing additional review and approving required Plans of Corrections from 1915c Waiver providers who have undergone a QMB compliance survey.
Who are the customers?
The Quality Management Bureau (QMB) of the Division of Health Improvement (DHI) works in close coordination with other Divisions and Bureaus of the Health Care Authority (HCA) and with other state agencies to ensure accountability and compliance with state and federal, program, contractual and quality standards.
DHI/QMB customers include:
- The individuals receiving DDW, Mi Via, and Medically Fragile waiver services.
- Families/Guardians.
- Provider Agencies.
- The community at large.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in Nursing, Architecture, Social Work, Sociology, Psychology, Rehabilitation, and/or Criminal Justice and two (2) years directly related experience in community-based healthcare services and case management. Any combination of education from an accredited college or university in a related field and/or direct experience in this occupation totaling six (6) years may substitute for the required education and experience.
EMPLOYMENT REQUIREMENTS
- Must possess and maintain a valid Driver's License.
- Must possess and maintain a current Defensive Driving Course Certificate from the State of New Mexico or must pass and receive Defensive Driving Course Certification as a condition of continued employment.
WORKING CONDITIONS
Work is performed in the office setting with exposure to visual/Video Display Terminal (VDT) and extensive computer and telephone usage. This position may require some in-state and out-of-state travel for training.
