Get Access To All JobsTips for Finding Healthcare Jobs at UT Southwestern Medical Center Jobs
Align your credentials with U.S. licensing standards
Many healthcare roles at UT Southwestern require state licensure or board certification before an offer can move forward. Confirm your credentials transfer under Texas Medical Board or relevant licensing body requirements before applying, so you're not caught off guard post-offer.
Target roles tied to funded research programs
UT Southwestern's academic medical center structure means many healthcare positions are tied to grant-funded research. These roles often have more institutional flexibility for sponsorship because funding is already earmarked for the position and timeline.
Verify your visa type matches the role category
Clinical roles versus research or education-adjacent healthcare positions can qualify under different visa categories, including H-1B, TN, or E-3. Confirm the role's classification with UT Southwestern's HR team early so your visa pathway aligns with what the institution is prepared to file.
Request a clear sponsorship timeline before signing
Ask UT Southwestern's hiring team whether they plan to file with premium processing or standard USCIS timelines. For healthcare roles with start date requirements tied to clinical rotations or grant cycles, a filing delay can affect your first-day eligibility.
Use Migrate Mate to filter verified sponsoring healthcare roles
Not every healthcare posting at a large academic medical center is open to sponsorship candidates. Search Migrate Mate to filter UT Southwestern healthcare jobs by visa type, so you're applying to roles where sponsorship is already confirmed rather than guessing from the job description.
Prepare documentation for specialty occupation review
USCIS applies heightened scrutiny to healthcare specialty occupation claims, particularly for roles that blend clinical and administrative duties. Have transcripts, clinical training records, and a job description that maps your degree field directly to the offered role ready before your employer files.

Find Healthcare at UT Southwestern Medical Center JobsFrequently Asked Questions
Does UT Southwestern Medical Center sponsor H-1B visas for Healthcares?
Yes, UT Southwestern Medical Center sponsors H-1B visas for qualifying healthcare roles. As an academic medical center, it functions as a cap-exempt employer in many cases, meaning H-1B petitions tied to research or educational functions can be filed outside the annual lottery. Roles that are primarily clinical may still be subject to the cap, so confirming the position's classification with HR is an important early step.
How do I apply for Healthcare jobs at UT Southwestern Medical Center?
Applications go through UT Southwestern's official careers portal, where you can filter by department and role type. For international candidates, Migrate Mate is the recommended starting point, letting you browse verified healthcare openings at UT Southwestern filtered by visa sponsorship type before you apply. Having your credentials, licensure documentation, and visa status ready before submitting strengthens your application.
Which visa types are commonly used for Healthcare roles at UT Southwestern Medical Center?
UT Southwestern sponsors H-1B, E-3, TN, F-1 OPT, and F-1 CPT visas for healthcare roles. The right visa depends on your nationality and the nature of the role. Australian citizens typically pursue the E-3, Canadian and Mexican nationals often use TN, and recent graduates on F-1 may begin on OPT before transitioning to H-1B sponsorship.
What qualifications and experience are expected for Healthcare roles at UT Southwestern Medical Center?
UT Southwestern is an academic medical center, so healthcare roles typically require a degree in a directly related field, such as medicine, nursing, public health, or biomedical sciences. Clinical positions often require Texas licensure or board certification. Research-oriented healthcare roles may prioritize graduate-level training and peer-reviewed experience alongside or instead of clinical credentials.
How do I manage the timeline between receiving an offer and starting work on a sponsored visa?
The timeline depends on your current status and visa type. F-1 OPT holders can start as soon as their EAD is valid. H-1B and E-3 transfers from another employer can often proceed with a portability filing. If you're filing fresh, standard USCIS processing runs several months, so aligning your offer letter start date with realistic filing timelines is something to raise with UT Southwestern's HR team before countersigning.
