Summary
The Division of Genetics seeks a full-time genetic counselor to join the faculty of Baylor College of Medicine at CHRISTUS Children's. This position has a competitive salary and full benefits package. The successful candidate will join a division that includes clinical and biochemical geneticists and nine pediatric genetic counselors.
Job Duties
- Responsibilities will include but are not limited to the following:
- Provide genetic counseling primarily for pediatric patients in outpatient and inpatient settings but will also provide genetic counseling for adult patients
- Review, elicit, and interpret family, medical and psychosocial histories
- Coordinate the genetic testing process with laboratory, physicians, and patients/families
- Work closely with geneticists, nurses, dieticians, social workers and other genetic counselors to coordinate patient care
- Participate in multidisciplinary clinics, departmental conferences, meetings, and student and resident teaching
- Reports to Genetics Division Chief
Minimum Qualifications
- Qualified candidates must have graduated from an ABGC accredited genetic counseling training program and be board certified or board eligible with the American Board of Genetic Counselors.
- Candidates should also possess excellent interpersonal communication skills (written and oral), strong organizational skills, critical thinking skills, and eagerness to work in a team setting. Bilingual in Spanish is preferred.
