Align Your Credentials With ACGME Requirements
Baylor requires ECFMG certification for international medical graduates before sponsoring any visa. Confirm your medical degree meets ACGME accreditation standards and that your USMLE steps are complete before applying.
Target Departments With Research or Faculty Tracks
Baylor's academic medicine model means physician roles often sit within department-funded faculty lines, not just clinical staffing. Research-affiliated positions are more likely to have flexibility on visa sponsorship, including H-1B cap-exempt filings through the university.
Use Migrate Mate to Find Open Physician Roles
Physician openings at Baylor span multiple departments and aren't always easy to track. Use Migrate Mate to filter specifically for Medical Doctor roles at Baylor College of Medicine that come with confirmed visa sponsorship.
Clarify J-1 Waiver Eligibility Before Accepting an Offer
If you completed a J-1 residency or fellowship, the two-year home residency requirement applies. Confirm with Baylor's HR and immigration team whether the role qualifies for a Conrad 30 or interested government agency waiver before signing.
Request the LCA Job Posting Notice Early in Negotiations
For H-1B sponsorship, DOL requires Baylor to post a Labor Condition Application notice at the worksite. Asking about this step early signals immigration familiarity and helps you gauge how far along the employer's process actually is.

Find Medical Doctor at Baylor College of Medicine JobsFrequently Asked Questions
Does Baylor College of Medicine sponsor H-1B visas for Medical Doctors?
Yes. Baylor College of Medicine sponsors H-1B visas for Medical Doctors, and as an academic medical center it qualifies as a cap-exempt institution, meaning it can file H-1B petitions year-round without being subject to the annual lottery. This is a significant advantage for international physicians who missed the H-1B cap or need sponsorship outside the April filing window.
How do I apply for Medical Doctor jobs at Baylor College of Medicine?
Physician roles at Baylor are posted through the college's careers portal, often tied to specific departments or research divisions. You'll typically need a current CV, ECFMG certification if you trained internationally, board certification or eligibility, and a Texas medical license or evidence of eligibility. Applications are reviewed at the department level, so reaching out to department administrators alongside a formal application can strengthen your candidacy.
Which visa types does Baylor College of Medicine commonly use for Medical Doctor roles?
Baylor sponsors H-1B, J-1, TN, and F-1 OPT visas for physician roles, and also supports EB-2 and EB-3 green card pathways. J-1 is frequently used for residents and fellows, while H-1B is the most common route for attending physicians. TN is available for Canadian and Mexican physicians in qualifying specialty roles. Green Card sponsorship typically follows after an initial nonimmigrant status period.
What qualifications does Baylor College of Medicine expect for Medical Doctor positions?
Most Medical Doctor roles require an MD or DO degree, ECFMG certification for international medical graduates, and either board certification or active board eligibility in the relevant specialty. Clinical roles require a Texas medical license. Research or faculty-track positions may place additional weight on publication record, grant history, or fellowship training in a subspecialty relevant to Baylor's active research programs.
How do I find Medical Doctor roles at Baylor College of Medicine that include visa sponsorship?
Not all physician postings at Baylor explicitly state visa sponsorship availability upfront. Migrate Mate aggregates Medical Doctor openings at Baylor College of Medicine and filters specifically for roles where visa sponsorship has been confirmed, saving you the step of screening each posting individually or following up with HR to ask about immigration support.
