Match your credentials to USMCA professions
TN eligibility is tied to specific USMCA profession categories, not job titles. Before applying to AltaMed, verify your occupation appears on the approved list and that your degree field directly matches. Healthcare roles like physician, registered nurse, and medical technologist each carry distinct credential requirements.
Research AltaMed's clinical team structure
AltaMed operates federally qualified health centers with multidisciplinary care teams. Target departments where TN-eligible roles concentrate, such as primary care, behavioral health, and specialty clinics. Applying to roles within established clinical divisions increases your chances of reaching a hiring manager familiar with TN admission.
Prepare your offer letter documentation carefully
AltaMed's offer letter must specify your TN profession category, job duties, salary, and employment start date. Review it against USMCA requirements before your border or consular appointment. Discrepancies between the letter and your stated duties are the most common reason TN admission is questioned at the port of entry.
Use Migrate Mate to identify AltaMed's sponsorship history
Before investing time in AltaMed's application process, confirm the company actively hires in your TN profession category. Migrate Mate surfaces employer sponsorship data so you can see which roles AltaMed has historically supported, helping you prioritize applications where your occupation fits their hiring patterns.
Benchmark your salary against OFLC Wage Search
While TN doesn't require an LCA, AltaMed's offer must reflect competitive compensation for your role and location. Look up your occupation's prevailing wage using the OFLC Wage Search before negotiating. An offer noticeably below the local wage level for your profession category can draw scrutiny at the border.
Prepare for secondary inspection at the port of entry
Canadian TN applicants entering through land borders or airports may face secondary inspection if the officer is unfamiliar with healthcare profession categories. Bring your original degree transcripts, license verification, and AltaMed's offer letter. Being able to explain your clinical duties in plain terms speeds the process significantly.
AltaMed Health Services TN Visa Sponsorship: Frequently Asked Questions
Does AltaMed Health Services sponsor TN visas?
Yes, AltaMed Health Services supports TN admission for qualified Canadian and Mexican professionals in USMCA-eligible healthcare roles. As a federally qualified health center network, AltaMed regularly hires clinical professionals whose occupations appear on the USMCA professions list. The company issues offer letters that TN candidates present at the border or U.S. consulate.
Which roles at AltaMed Health Services are eligible for TN admission?
TN eligibility at AltaMed is limited to USMCA-listed professions. Roles that commonly qualify include physicians, registered nurses, medical technologists, physical therapists, and pharmacists. Administrative or general healthcare support roles typically don't meet TN profession criteria. Confirm your specific job title maps to an approved USMCA category before applying.
How do I navigate the TN process after receiving an AltaMed job offer?
Once AltaMed issues your offer letter, Canadian citizens apply directly at a U.S. port of entry with their letter, degree credentials, and professional license documentation. Mexican nationals apply at a U.S. consulate. There's no USCIS petition required. TN status is granted in three-year increments and can be renewed without a cap.
How long does the TN admission process take with AltaMed Health Services?
For Canadians, TN admission is typically granted the same day at the port of entry if documentation is complete. Mexican nationals applying through a U.S. consulate should expect a standard nonimmigrant visa appointment wait time, which varies by location and season. AltaMed's HR team can advise on documentation timelines once an offer is extended.
How do I find TN-eligible job openings at AltaMed Health Services?
Migrate Mate surfaces roles at employers with TN sponsorship history, making it easier to identify AltaMed positions that align with USMCA-eligible profession categories. You can also search AltaMed's careers page and filter by clinical departments. When reaching out to recruiters, specify your TN status upfront so hiring managers familiar with the process are looped in early.
How does TN visa admission work at AltaMed Health Services?
TN status is granted under the USMCA treaty — there is no USCIS petition or Labor Condition Application required. Canadian citizens can apply directly at a U.S. port of entry with an offer letter from AltaMed Health Services, while Mexican citizens must first obtain a TN visa at a U.S. consulate. The role must match one of the professions listed in USMCA Appendix 1603.D.1. Migrate Mate filters TN job listings to roles that fall within the eligible profession list.
