Match your degree to USMCA categories
TN eligibility depends on holding a qualifying degree in a profession listed under USMCA, not just relevant experience. Before applying to ATI, cross-reference your credential against the USMCA professions list to confirm your specific degree field qualifies for the role you're targeting.
Target ATI's engineering and software teams
ATI's TN hires tend to concentrate in technical functions like software engineering, systems analysis, and IT infrastructure. When searching open roles, filter for titles that map cleanly to USMCA-recognized professions so your application starts from a defensible TN category from day one.
Request a detailed offer letter from ATI
ATI's offer letter is your primary document at the port of entry or consulate. Ask HR to include your job title, duties, USMCA profession category, salary, and employment period. Border officers and consular staff use these details to adjudicate TN admission, so vague letters create unnecessary risk.
Use Migrate Mate to verify ATI's TN history
Before accepting an offer, confirm ATI regularly supports TN admission for your target role type. Migrate Mate surfaces employer-level hiring data so you can see whether ATI has a consistent track record with TN professionals in technology and software, not just H-1B visa or other visa categories.
Prepare for border inspection as a Canadian national
Canadian TN applicants don't attend a consular interview; admission happens at a U.S. port of entry. Bring your ATI offer letter, degree transcripts, and any professional licenses in a single organized packet. Officers expect you to demonstrate TN eligibility on the spot, without advance USCIS approval.
Align your resume to O*NET occupation profiles
ATI recruiters screening TN candidates look for job descriptions that clearly match a USMCA profession. Review the O*NET profile for your target occupation and mirror its core task language in your resume so both ATI's hiring team and the admitting officer see an immediate, defensible fit.
ATI TN Visa Sponsorship: Frequently Asked Questions
Does ATI sponsor TN visas?
ATI supports TN admission for qualified Canadian and Mexican professionals by issuing the offer letter required at the port of entry or consulate. There is no USCIS petition involved. ATI hires TN professionals primarily for technology and software roles that align with USMCA-recognized professions such as computer systems analyst, engineer, or scientist categories.
Which roles at ATI typically qualify for TN admission?
ATI's TN-eligible roles are concentrated in engineering, software development, systems analysis, and IT infrastructure. The position must correspond to a profession explicitly listed under USMCA. Roles with a generalist or managerial title that doesn't map to a named USMCA category are unlikely to qualify, even if the work is technical in nature.
How do I start the TN process after receiving an ATI offer?
Once ATI issues your offer letter, Canadian nationals proceed directly to a U.S. port of entry with supporting documents including the letter, degree transcripts, and any relevant professional credentials. Mexican nationals schedule a consular appointment. In both cases, admission is determined at the border or consulate, not through an advance USCIS filing.
How long does TN admission take when joining ATI?
Canadian nationals can be admitted the same day at the port of entry if documents are in order. Mexican nationals face consular appointment wait times that vary by location and season. TN status is granted in increments and can be extended indefinitely as long as ATI continues to employ you in a qualifying role.
How do I find open TN-eligible positions at ATI?
Search for ATI roles with titles that correspond to USMCA professions in engineering and technology. Migrate Mate can help you identify whether ATI has a history of supporting TN admission for specific role types, so you can prioritize applications where the employer and position are both well-matched to TN requirements before reaching the offer stage.
How does TN visa admission work at ATI?
TN status is granted under the USMCA treaty — there is no USCIS petition or Labor Condition Application required. Canadian citizens can apply directly at a U.S. port of entry with an offer letter from ATI, while Mexican citizens must first obtain a TN visa at a U.S. consulate. The role must match one of the professions listed in USMCA Appendix 1603.D.1. Migrate Mate filters TN job listings to roles that fall within the eligible profession list.
