Confirm your role is on the USMCA list
Not every healthcare job at Baystate Health qualifies for TN. Cross-reference your exact job title against the USMCA professions list before applying. Registered Nurses, Physical Therapists, and Medical Technologists are listed; general healthcare aides are not.
Request a detailed offer letter early
Baystate Health's offer letter must specify your USMCA profession category, your credentials, and that the position is temporary. A vague or incomplete letter is the most common reason TN admissions are delayed or questioned at the border.
Align your credentials to U.S. licensing standards
Baystate Health operates in Massachusetts, which has specific licensure requirements for clinical roles. Verify your Canadian or Mexican credentials meet state licensing board standards before your offer is issued, since USCIS won't review TN but CBP will scrutinize your documentation.
Use Migrate Mate to find Baystate Health openings
Baystate Health's TN-eligible roles aren't always labeled as visa-sponsored in job postings. Migrate Mate filters positions by employer TN-hiring history so you can target roles where the hiring team already understands the TN admission process and won't stall on paperwork.
Prepare for port-of-entry admission as a Canadian
If you're Canadian, you don't need consular processing. Present your Baystate Health offer letter, credential documents, and USMCA profession evidence directly at a land border or airport pre-clearance. Arriving during off-peak hours typically means shorter inspection queues and more officer time.
Start renewal planning at the twelve-month mark
TN status is granted in up to three-year increments, but Baystate Health will need to issue a new support letter for renewal. Coordinate with HR at least three months before your TN expires to avoid gaps, since TN has no automatic cap-gap protection unlike H-1B.
Baystate Health TN Visa Sponsorship: Frequently Asked Questions
Does Baystate Health sponsor TN visas?
Yes. Baystate Health supports TN admission for qualifying Canadian and Mexican professionals in USMCA-listed occupations. The company issues the offer letter and employment documentation that candidates present at a U.S. port of entry or consulate. There's no USCIS petition involved, so the process moves faster than H-1B visa sponsorship.
Which roles at Baystate Health are typically eligible for TN admission?
Clinical and allied health roles that map directly to the USMCA professions list are the most common TN-eligible positions at Baystate Health. These include Registered Nurses, Physical Therapists, Occupational Therapists, Medical Technologists, and certain Pharmacist roles. Administrative or general support positions don't qualify regardless of employer preference.
How do I start the TN process after receiving a Baystate Health offer?
Once you have a written offer, work with Baystate Health's HR or immigration team to get a detailed support letter that names your USMCA profession category and confirms the temporary nature of the role. Canadians then present that letter at a port of entry. Mexicans must schedule a visa interview at a U.S. consulate in Mexico first.
How long does the TN process take at Baystate Health?
For Canadian citizens, TN admission at the border can happen the same day as long as documents are complete. For Mexican nationals, consular appointment wait times vary by location and season but are typically shorter than H-1B processing. Baystate Health's offer letter preparation usually takes one to two weeks from the time HR receives your request.
How do I find TN-eligible jobs at Baystate Health?
Search Migrate Mate to find Baystate Health openings filtered by TN-eligible hiring history. Many clinical postings don't explicitly advertise TN support, so targeting a platform that tracks employer immigration patterns saves time. Once you identify a role, confirm it maps to an O*NET occupation that falls under the USMCA professions list before applying.
How does TN visa admission work at Baystate Health?
TN status is granted under the USMCA treaty — there is no USCIS petition or Labor Condition Application required. Canadian citizens can apply directly at a U.S. port of entry with an offer letter from Baystate Health, while Mexican citizens must first obtain a TN visa at a U.S. consulate. The role must match one of the professions listed in USMCA Appendix 1603.D.1. Migrate Mate filters TN job listings to roles that fall within the eligible profession list.
