Map your role to USMCA professions
Before applying, confirm your target role at Broadcom falls within a recognized USMCA profession category. Engineers, computer systems analysts, and scientific technicians qualify. Job titles like 'program manager' or 'product lead' often don't, even in tech companies, so verify your specific function against the official list.
Search verified TN employer histories on Migrate Mate
Use Migrate Mate to filter Broadcom job listings by TN eligibility and review its hiring history for Canadian and Mexican professionals. This helps you target roles and teams where TN admission has precedent, rather than applying broadly and hoping the offer letter process goes smoothly.
Align your credentials to Broadcom's technical stack
Broadcom recruits heavily in semiconductor design, firmware, and enterprise software. Your degree or credentials should demonstrably connect to the specific engineering or systems role. A computer engineering degree for a networking software position is a stronger credential match than a general IT background.
Request a detailed offer letter from HR
Broadcom's HR team issues offer letters for TN candidates, but the letter must specify your USMCA profession category, job duties, and employment duration. Ask explicitly for these elements before your port-of-entry or consulate appointment, since vague letters are the leading cause of TN admission delays.
Prepare your degree evaluation before the interview stage
Canadian applicants typically present credentials at the port of entry, but Broadcom's technical recruiting moves quickly. Have your degree transcripts, and a credential evaluation if your qualification is from outside North America, ready before your final interview so your documentation is ready when an offer comes.
Use O*NET to build your duties narrative
CBP officers assess whether your actual job duties match your stated USMCA profession. Look up your target role in O*NET to understand the standard duties framework, then ensure your Broadcom offer letter and your verbal explanation at the port of entry reflect the recognized occupation definition precisely.
