Verify your role fits USMCA
TN admission is limited to occupations on the USMCA professions list. Before applying to Broward Health, check your job title against that list and confirm your degree aligns with the role. Healthcare-adjacent titles like 'clinical coordinator' may not qualify, but 'registered nurse' or 'medical technologist' typically do.
Match your credentials to U.S. standards
Broward Health operates in a licensed, regulated healthcare environment. Make sure your foreign nursing or therapy credentials are evaluated by a recognized credentialing body before you apply. CGFNS or equivalent evaluations are routinely expected, and having them ready signals you're cleared to work without delays.
Request a detailed offer letter early
At the border or consulate, your offer letter from Broward Health is your primary TN support document. Ask HR to specify your USMCA profession category, employment start date, salary, and job duties in writing. Vague letters are the most common reason TN admissions get delayed or questioned.
Search Broward Health's open roles on Migrate Mate
Migrate Mate shows which Broward Health roles are actively open to TN candidates, filtered by visa type and department. Search by USMCA-eligible occupation to find clinical and allied health positions where Broward Health has a track record of supporting TN admission for Canadian and Mexican nationals.
Time your border crossing around shift schedules
Canadian TN candidates entering at land ports should plan arrival with flexibility, since processing can take one to three hours. Broward Health's clinical roles often have fixed shift start dates, so coordinate your crossing at least a week before your start date to avoid conflicts with onboarding timelines.
Understand state licensure runs parallel to TN
Florida requires active state licensure for most clinical roles before you can practice, and Broward Health will expect licensure in hand before your first day. Apply to the Florida Department of Health for your profession's license as soon as your offer letter is issued, not after TN admission is granted.
Broward Health TN Visa Sponsorship: Frequently Asked Questions
Does Broward Health sponsor TN visas?
Broward Health supports TN admission for qualified Canadian and Mexican professionals in USMCA-eligible roles. It doesn't file a petition or LCA on your behalf. Instead, it issues a detailed offer letter documenting your role, duties, and employment terms, which you present at the U.S. border or consulate to obtain TN status directly.
Which departments at Broward Health typically hire TN professionals?
Clinical and allied health departments are the most active areas for TN candidates at Broward Health. Registered nurses, physical therapists, occupational therapists, medical technologists, and pharmacists are among the USMCA-listed professions that align with Broward Health's staffing needs. Administrative or non-clinical roles rarely fall within the USMCA professions list.
How do I start the TN process after receiving a Broward Health offer?
Once Broward Health issues your offer letter, Canadian nationals can present it at a U.S. port of entry without needing a prior visa appointment. Mexican nationals must schedule a consular interview at a U.S. embassy or consulate. Use Migrate Mate to confirm your role qualifies and to organize your supporting documents before your entry date.
How long does TN admission take at the border or consulate?
Canadian nationals typically receive a decision at the port of entry the same day, though processing can take one to three hours depending on the crossing volume. Mexican nationals applying at a consulate face visa appointment wait times that vary by location and season. TN status is granted in two-year increments with no statutory limit on renewals.
What documents do I need to bring for TN admission at Broward Health?
You'll need your valid passport, the Broward Health offer letter specifying your USMCA profession and duties, proof of your qualifying degree or credentials, and any required Florida state licensure documentation. For regulated healthcare roles, credential evaluation reports from bodies like CGFNS strengthen your admissibility. Bring originals and copies of every document.
How does TN visa admission work at Broward Health?
TN status is granted under the USMCA treaty — there is no USCIS petition or Labor Condition Application required. Canadian citizens can apply directly at a U.S. port of entry with an offer letter from Broward Health, while Mexican citizens must first obtain a TN visa at a U.S. consulate. The role must match one of the professions listed in USMCA Appendix 1603.D.1. Migrate Mate filters TN job listings to roles that fall within the eligible profession list.
