Verify your role appears on the USMCA list
TN eligibility is limited to occupations explicitly listed under USMCA. Before applying to Cone Health, confirm your job title maps to a qualifying profession. Use O*NET to match your duties to the correct occupation code and bring that documentation to your border crossing or consulate appointment.
Request a detailed offer letter early
Cone Health's offer letter must specify your TN profession category, job duties, salary, and employment period. Ask HR to confirm the letter explicitly names your USMCA occupation. Border officers and consular staff deny entries when the letter omits the statutory profession designation, even if your credentials are strong.
Align your credentials to North Carolina licensing requirements
Many clinical roles at Cone Health require active North Carolina licensure before your start date. Nurses, therapists, and medical technologists should initiate their state licensing application well in advance. Arriving at the border with a conditional or pending license can complicate your TN admission as a healthcare professional.
Search Cone Health's active TN roles on Migrate Mate
Cone Health posts roles across multiple facilities and departments, making it easy to miss openings suited to TN professionals. Use Migrate Mate to filter Cone Health listings by TN-eligible occupation and location, so you're targeting positions where their hiring team is already prepared to support TN admission.
Prepare wage evidence before your border appointment
Cone Health must pay TN professionals at or above the prevailing wage for your occupation and North Carolina location. Cross-check your offered salary against the OFLC Wage Search before accepting the offer. If the rate falls below the published wage level, negotiate before your border appointment, not after.
Understand TN renewal timing at multi-site employers
Cone Health operates hospitals, medical centers, and specialty clinics across the Greensboro region. If your role shifts between facilities or your duties change substantially at renewal, your offer letter must reflect the updated position. A mismatch between your original admission and your renewal documentation triggers additional border scrutiny.
Cone Health TN Visa Sponsorship: Frequently Asked Questions
Does Cone Health sponsor TN visas?
Yes. Cone Health hires Canadian and Mexican nationals in USMCA-eligible healthcare roles and issues the offer letter required for TN admission. TN is treaty-based, so there's no USCIS petition involved. You present Cone Health's letter, your credentials, and supporting documents at a U.S. port of entry or consulate to obtain TN status directly.
Which roles at Cone Health typically qualify for TN admission?
TN-eligible roles at Cone Health most commonly fall within nursing, medical technology, physical and occupational therapy, pharmacists, and other allied health professions listed under USMCA. Administrative, operations, and general support roles do not qualify. Your specific job title and duties must map to a USMCA profession category for TN admission to apply.
How do I start the TN process after receiving a Cone Health offer?
Once Cone Health issues your offer letter, Canadians can proceed directly to a U.S. port of entry with their credentials, letter, and supporting documents. Mexican nationals must schedule a consular appointment at a U.S. embassy or consulate. There is no USCIS petition and no waiting period. Use Migrate Mate to confirm your role qualifies before you accept the offer.
How long does TN admission take when starting at Cone Health?
Canadian citizens can complete TN admission at the border in a single day, assuming documentation is complete and the officer approves the entry. Mexican nationals face longer timelines tied to consular appointment availability, which can range from a few weeks to several months depending on the U.S. embassy location and current scheduling backlogs.
How do I handle TN renewal if my role or facility changes at Cone Health?
TN status is tied to the specific role and employer described in your original admission documents. If your position title, duties, or work location changes materially within Cone Health's health system, you should obtain a new offer letter reflecting the updated role before your next renewal. Presenting outdated documentation at the border can result in denial or a shorter admission period.
How does TN visa admission work at Cone Health?
TN status is granted under the USMCA treaty — there is no USCIS petition or Labor Condition Application required. Canadian citizens can apply directly at a U.S. port of entry with an offer letter from Cone Health, while Mexican citizens must first obtain a TN visa at a U.S. consulate. The role must match one of the professions listed in USMCA Appendix 1603.D.1. Migrate Mate filters TN job listings to roles that fall within the eligible profession list.
