Match your credentials to USMCA professions
TN admission is limited to occupations explicitly listed under USMCA, so confirm your healthcare role qualifies before applying. For clinical positions at Cook Children's, nursing and allied health roles are the strongest fit. Cross-reference your job title against the official professions list and your degree requirements first.
Verify your degree aligns with the role
Cook Children's hiring managers evaluate TN candidates based on direct credential-to-role alignment. A bachelor's or higher in a directly related field is required for most clinical positions. Use O*NET to confirm the typical educational requirement for your specific job title before submitting your application.
Request a detailed offer letter early
Cook Children's provides the offer letter you'll present at the port of entry or consulate. Ask your recruiter to include your job title, qualifying USMCA profession category, and that the role requires your specific degree. Incomplete letters are the leading cause of TN admission delays at the border.
Research prevailing wages before negotiating
Before salary discussions with Cook Children's recruitment team, look up the wage floor for your occupation and Fort Worth area using the OFLC Wage Search. Arriving informed signals professionalism and ensures your offer reflects rates consistent with what a TN officer would expect for a qualifying position.
Use Migrate Mate to find Cook Children's TN openings
Searching broadly misses roles where Cook Children's is actively receptive to TN candidates. Migrate Mate surfaces positions at Cook Children's filtered by TN-eligible occupations, so you're applying where your status is already understood rather than educating a recruiter from scratch during every screening call.
Prepare for Canadian border vs. Mexican consulate differences
Canadian nationals can seek TN admission directly at a U.S. port of entry with Cook Children's offer letter in hand. Mexican nationals must schedule a consulate appointment in advance, which adds weeks to the timeline. Plan your start date with Cook Children's accordingly to avoid committing to a date you can't meet.
Cook Children's Health Care System TN Visa Sponsorship: Frequently Asked Questions
Does Cook Children's Health Care System sponsor TN visas?
Cook Children's Health Care System hires TN professionals for qualifying clinical and allied health roles. The process isn't a petition or employer filing, Cook Children's issues a support letter, and you present it at the U.S. border or consulate for admission under USMCA. Eligible roles are limited to occupations on the USMCA professions list.
Which roles at Cook Children's typically qualify for TN admission?
Clinical and allied health positions are the most common TN-eligible roles at Cook Children's, including registered nurses, physical therapists, occupational therapists, medical technologists, and pharmacists. These align directly with USMCA's enumerated healthcare professions. Roles in general administration or support functions typically don't meet the specialty occupation and degree requirements that TN requires.
How do I start the TN process with Cook Children's Health Care System?
Once Cook Children's extends a job offer, ask your HR contact to provide a detailed offer letter specifying your USMCA profession category, role description, and degree requirement. Canadian nationals present this letter at a port of entry. Mexican nationals schedule a U.S. consulate appointment. Neither route involves a USCIS petition or employer-filed paperwork through a government system.
How long does TN admission take when working with Cook Children's?
Canadian nationals can typically complete border admission in a single day if documents are in order. Mexican nationals applying through a consulate should plan for additional weeks depending on appointment availability. Once Cook Children's provides your offer letter, your own scheduling and document preparation determine the timeline more than any employer-side process.
How do I find TN-eligible job openings at Cook Children's Health Care System?
Migrate Mate filters open positions at Cook Children's by TN-eligible occupations, so you can identify roles where your status is already a known fit rather than navigating generic job boards. Once you identify a role, confirm the USMCA profession match using O*NET before applying, and verify the degree requirement aligns with your credentials.
How does TN visa admission work at Cook Children's Health Care System?
TN status is granted under the USMCA treaty — there is no USCIS petition or Labor Condition Application required. Canadian citizens can apply directly at a U.S. port of entry with an offer letter from Cook Children's Health Care System, while Mexican citizens must first obtain a TN visa at a U.S. consulate. The role must match one of the professions listed in USMCA Appendix 1603.D.1. Migrate Mate filters TN job listings to roles that fall within the eligible profession list.
