Match your credentials to USMCA professions
TN eligibility depends on your role falling within the USMCA professions list. For GFT's technology roles, Computer Systems Analyst and Engineer are the most commonly applicable categories. Cross-reference your degree field and job title against O*NET to confirm alignment before applying.
Target GFT's digital transformation and consulting teams
GFT concentrates hiring in digital banking, cloud migration, and software delivery. Roles in these verticals are more likely to carry TN-eligible job titles. When browsing openings, prioritize positions with titles that map directly to recognized USMCA profession categories rather than hybrid or management-track roles.
Request an offer letter that names your TN category
GFT's offer letter must explicitly state your TN profession category, the professional capacity in which you'll work, and the intended duration of employment. A letter that omits your USMCA category or uses vague role language can cause delays or a refusal at the port of entry.
Prepare your credential documentation before the border
Canadian nationals present their TN package directly at the port of entry without a prior USCIS filing. Bring your original degree transcripts, professional licenses if required for your category, the GFT offer letter, and a copy of your resume. Officers assess your qualifications on the spot, so gaps in documentation carry real risk.
Verify GFT's TN hiring history before applying
Use Migrate Mate to check GFT's verified sponsorship history by role type and location before you invest time tailoring an application. Knowing which job titles and U.S. offices have supported TN admissions helps you focus on positions where the path is already established.
Negotiate a TN duration that covers your project timeline
TN status is granted in increments up to three years and is renewable indefinitely. When reviewing your GFT offer, confirm the employment period stated in the letter matches your project engagement length. A shorter stated duration than your actual assignment creates unnecessary renewal filings mid-project.
GFT TN Visa Sponsorship: Frequently Asked Questions
Does GFT sponsor TN visas?
Yes, GFT hires TN professionals for roles in technology and digital services. Because TN is treaty-based admission under USMCA, GFT's role is to issue a qualifying offer letter rather than file a petition. Canadian nationals present that letter at the border; Mexican nationals use it at a U.S. consulate. There is no USCIS petition involved.
Which roles at GFT typically qualify for TN admission?
GFT's TN-eligible hiring concentrates in software engineering, data engineering, systems analysis, and IT consulting. These roles map to USMCA profession categories such as Computer Systems Analyst and Engineer. Management, sales, or operations titles that don't correspond to a defined USMCA profession generally don't qualify for TN status regardless of industry.
How do I start the TN process after receiving a GFT offer?
Once GFT issues your offer letter naming your TN profession category, Canadian nationals can proceed directly to a U.S. port of entry or pre-clearance facility without advance USCIS filing. Mexican nationals schedule a consular interview. In both cases, bring your degree transcripts, any required professional credentials, and the original offer letter documenting your role and employment period.
How long does TN admission take at GFT?
Canadian nationals admitted at the border typically receive a decision the same day. Mexican nationals face consular appointment wait times that vary by post and season. Once admitted, TN status at GFT is granted for up to three years and can be renewed indefinitely provided you maintain a qualifying role. Migrate Mate can help you confirm GFT's historical timelines by position type.
How do I confirm my salary offer aligns with TN wage standards?
TN status doesn't require a formal Labor Condition Application, but your GFT offer should still reflect competitive wages for your occupation and work location. Use the OFLC Wage Search to look up the prevailing wage for your job title and metropolitan area before negotiating. The Bureau of Labor Statistics also publishes occupation wage data that can anchor your expectations.
How does TN visa admission work at GFT?
TN status is granted under the USMCA treaty — there is no USCIS petition or Labor Condition Application required. Canadian citizens can apply directly at a U.S. port of entry with an offer letter from GFT, while Mexican citizens must first obtain a TN visa at a U.S. consulate. The role must match one of the professions listed in USMCA Appendix 1603.D.1. Migrate Mate filters TN job listings to roles that fall within the eligible profession list.
