Match your credentials to USMCA professions
TN eligibility is defined by the USMCA professions list, not Henry Ford Health's job titles. Cross-reference your degree and license against the approved list before applying. Healthcare roles like medical technologist or physical therapist have specific credential requirements that can disqualify applicants with equivalent but differently named degrees.
Target departments with recurring TN hires
Henry Ford Health's clinical departments, particularly nursing, rehabilitation services, and laboratory medicine, have established hiring pathways for TN professionals. Focusing your search on these units increases your chances of reaching recruiters who already understand the TN admission process and know what offer letters need to include.
Verify your license transfers before the offer stage
Michigan requires state licensure for most clinical roles, and Henry Ford Health won't issue a TN support letter until your license is confirmed or in process. Canadian nurses, for example, must pass NCLEX and apply to the Michigan Board of Nursing before the offer can be finalized for TN purposes.
Use Migrate Mate to find verified TN openings
Searching general job boards makes it hard to know which Henry Ford Health roles are genuinely open to TN professionals. Migrate Mate filters listings by employer TN hiring history so you can target positions where the hiring team has already navigated this process and understands what supporting documentation is required.
Ask HR to specify your TN category in writing
Henry Ford Health's offer letter must name the correct USMCA profession category, not just your job title. Mismatches between the stated category and your credentials are the most common reason CBP questions TN admission at the port of entry. Confirm the exact category with HR before your travel date.
Prepare for port-of-entry review as the final step
Canadian TN applicants present their offer letter, credentials, and passport directly at the border, without prior USCIS approval. Bring your degree transcripts, professional license, and a copy of Henry Ford Health's letter in a single organized packet. Officers may ask detailed questions about your role's connection to your field of study.
Henry Ford Health TN Visa Sponsorship: Frequently Asked Questions
Does Henry Ford Health sponsor TN visas?
Yes. Henry Ford Health hires TN professionals across clinical and allied health roles. Because TN is a treaty-based admission category under USMCA, Henry Ford Health doesn't file a petition with USCIS. Instead, it issues a support letter confirming your role and qualifications, which you present at a U.S. port of entry or consulate to obtain TN status.
Which roles at Henry Ford Health typically qualify for TN admission?
Roles in nursing, physical therapy, medical technology, pharmacology, and physician positions are among the most commonly filled through TN admission at Henry Ford Health. Each role must map to an approved USMCA profession category. Roles that don't appear on the USMCA professions list, regardless of seniority or salary, don't qualify for TN status.
How do I start the TN process with Henry Ford Health?
Once Henry Ford Health extends a job offer, their HR team prepares a support letter describing your role, your USMCA profession category, and your qualifications. Canadian applicants take that letter to a U.S. port of entry. Mexican applicants apply at a U.S. consulate. You can use Migrate Mate to identify open roles where Henry Ford Health has an established TN hiring track record.
How long does TN admission take at Henry Ford Health?
For Canadian applicants, TN admission at the port of entry is typically processed the same day, assuming your documents are complete and your role clearly qualifies. Mexican applicants applying through a U.S. consulate should expect a longer timeline due to appointment availability. Henry Ford Health's HR team generally needs time to finalize and issue the support letter before you travel.
Does Henry Ford Health also sponsor H-1B or Green Cards for healthcare workers?
Yes. Henry Ford Health sponsors H-1B visas and supports EB-2 and EB-3 Green Card pathways for eligible employees. Many healthcare professionals start on TN status and later transition to H-1B or pursue permanent residence through PERM-based sponsorship. Your eligibility for each pathway depends on your role, credentials, and how long you've been employed at Henry Ford Health.
How does TN visa admission work at Henry Ford Health?
TN status is granted under the USMCA treaty — there is no USCIS petition or Labor Condition Application required. Canadian citizens can apply directly at a U.S. port of entry with an offer letter from Henry Ford Health, while Mexican citizens must first obtain a TN visa at a U.S. consulate. The role must match one of the professions listed in USMCA Appendix 1603.D.1. Migrate Mate filters TN job listings to roles that fall within the eligible profession list.
