Match your credentials to USMCA professions
TN admission is limited to occupations explicitly listed under USMCA. Before applying to Kettering Independent Medical Group, verify your degree title and field align precisely with the USMCA profession category, a mismatch at the border is an immediate denial with no appeal window.
Target departments with consistent TN hiring
Kettering's clinical departments, including nursing, pharmacy, and medical imaging, have established patterns of hiring TN professionals. Focus your search on these units rather than administrative or non-clinical roles, which fall outside USMCA's qualifying professions list entirely.
Request a role-specific offer letter
Kettering's HR team issues support letters for TN candidates, but the letter must name your exact USMCA profession, describe your duties, state your start date and salary, and confirm the temporary nature of your employment. A vague letter is the most common reason for border delays.
Check prevailing wages before salary negotiations
Run your intended role through the OFLC Wage Search before accepting an offer. Kettering operates across Ohio, and wage levels vary by county. Confirming your offered salary meets the local prevailing wage strengthens your TN presentation and reduces the risk of secondary inspection questions.
Use Migrate Mate to identify your TN job targets
Search Migrate Mate to see which roles at Kettering Independent Medical Group align with active TN hiring. The platform surfaces employer filing history by occupation, so you can prioritize positions where TN admissions are a documented practice rather than guessing from the job description alone.
Prepare your credential evaluation before the interview
If your nursing or allied health degree is from a non-U.S. institution, Kettering's credentialing team will require an evaluation before extending an offer. Commission your credential assessment through a NACES-member organization early, since healthcare evaluations routinely take four to six weeks to complete.

For Canadian nationals, the process can be completed in a single day at the border if your documents are complete and your role clearly qualifies.
