Verify your role appears on the USMCA list
Not every healthcare title at Maimonides qualifies for TN admission. Cross-reference your exact job title against the USMCA TN professions list before applying. Clinical roles like registered nurse, medical laboratory technologist, and physical therapist have clearly defined credential requirements that Maimonides recruiters will expect you to satisfy precisely.
Align your credentials to U.S. licensing standards
Maimonides operates in New York, which has strict state licensing requirements for clinical staff. Canadians with provincial nursing or allied health licenses will need to confirm New York reciprocity or equivalency. Start credential verification through your profession's national body well before your target start date to avoid offer letter delays.
Request a detailed offer letter covering all TN requirements
The offer letter Maimonides provides is your primary document at the port of entry or consulate. Confirm it explicitly states your professional category, the specific duties you'll perform, your anticipated length of employment, and that the role is not permanent in nature. A vague letter is the leading cause of TN admission issues.
Target Maimonides departments with recurring TN hiring
Maimonides Medical Center's clinical labs, nursing units, and allied health departments regularly bring on TN professionals. When reaching out to recruiters, frame your inquiry around specific service lines rather than the hospital generally. Departments accustomed to international hires move faster through internal HR approval for offer letter issuance.
Use Migrate Mate to identify active TN employers before applying
Before investing time tailoring your application to Maimonides, confirm it actively hires in your TN-eligible occupation. Migrate Mate surfaces employer-level visa sponsorship data so you can see which healthcare institutions consistently support TN professionals in roles matching your credentials, helping you prioritize your outreach effectively.
Prepare for TN admission at the border, not USCIS
Unlike H-1B visa, TN admission for Canadians happens at a port of entry with no USCIS petition involved. Bring your Maimonides offer letter, credential documents, and your professional license. CBP officers adjudicate TN requests on the spot, so organizing your document package clearly and completely is essential to a smooth entry.
Maimonides Medical Center TN Visa Sponsorship: Frequently Asked Questions
Does Maimonides Medical Center sponsor TN visas?
Yes. Maimonides Medical Center supports TN admission for qualified Canadian and Mexican professionals in USMCA-eligible occupations. The hospital issues offer letters for roles in clinical and allied health departments. Because TN is treaty-based admission rather than an employer petition, Maimonides' role is to provide the offer letter and relevant employment documentation you present at the border or consulate.
Which roles and departments at Maimonides Medical Center typically qualify for TN admission?
TN-eligible roles at Maimonides most commonly appear in nursing, medical laboratory technology, physical and occupational therapy, and other allied health specialties that map directly to the USMCA professions list. Administrative and non-clinical roles generally do not qualify. Confirming that your specific job title appears on the USMCA list before applying saves significant time during the offer process.
How do I navigate the TN offer letter process at Maimonides Medical Center?
After Maimonides extends a job offer, their HR or legal team issues an offer letter documenting your TN professional category, job duties, and employment terms. You then present this letter along with your credentials at a U.S. port of entry if you're Canadian, or at a U.S. consulate if you're Mexican. Maimonides does not file a petition with USCIS for TN candidates.
How long does TN admission take when working with Maimonides Medical Center?
For Canadian professionals, CBP adjudicates TN requests at the port of entry the same day, so the timeline primarily depends on how quickly Maimonides issues your offer letter. Mexican professionals apply at a U.S. consulate, where wait times vary by location and season. Coordinating your credential documents and New York state licensing before your border appointment prevents avoidable delays.
How do I find TN-eligible jobs at Maimonides Medical Center?
Search Maimonides Medical Center's careers portal for clinical and allied health openings, then verify each role maps to an USMCA TN profession before applying. Migrate Mate can help you identify which healthcare employers actively support TN professionals in your occupation, giving you a focused list of institutions where your TN-eligible credentials are most likely to lead to an offer letter and successful admission.
How does TN visa admission work at Maimonides Medical Center?
TN status is granted under the USMCA treaty — there is no USCIS petition or Labor Condition Application required. Canadian citizens can apply directly at a U.S. port of entry with an offer letter from Maimonides Medical Center, while Mexican citizens must first obtain a TN visa at a U.S. consulate. The role must match one of the professions listed in USMCA Appendix 1603.D.1. Migrate Mate filters TN job listings to roles that fall within the eligible profession list.
