Verify your role qualifies under USMCA
TN admission is only available for occupations on the USMCA professions list. Before applying to any Mercy position, cross-reference your job title against that list using O*NET to confirm your specific role and degree combination qualify for TN classification.
Align your credentials to Mercy's clinical standards
Mercy operates under state licensing requirements for clinical roles. Confirm your foreign credentials have been evaluated for U.S. equivalency before your interview, and secure any required state licensure or board certification so Mercy's HR team can finalize your offer letter without delays.
Target departments with recurring TN hiring patterns
Mercy's hospitals and clinic networks regularly hire across nursing, physical therapy, and lab sciences. Search Migrate Mate to filter open Mercy roles that align with your USMCA profession, so you're targeting positions where TN admission support is already part of the hiring process.
Request a detailed offer letter for border presentation
Canadian TN applicants present their offer letter directly at a port of entry, not through a USCIS petition. Ask Mercy's HR to confirm the letter specifies your USMCA profession category, job duties, salary, and intended employment period, since CBP officers review each element individually.
Understand the consulate route if you're Mexican
Mexican nationals must apply for TN status at a U.S. consulate rather than at the border. Build your timeline around consulate appointment availability in your city, which can vary significantly, and prepare supporting documentation including your degree, professional license, and Mercy's offer letter.
Prepare for TN renewal before your status expires
TN status is granted in up to three-year increments with no cap on renewals, but you must maintain continuous qualifying employment. Coordinate with Mercy's HR well in advance of your expiration date to ensure your renewal documentation, including an updated offer letter, is ready without a gap.
Mercy TN Visa Sponsorship: Frequently Asked Questions
Does Mercy sponsor TN visas?
Mercy supports TN admission for qualifying Canadian and Mexican professionals in roles that match the USMCA professions list. Rather than filing a petition, Mercy issues an offer letter that you present at a port of entry or U.S. consulate. Clinical and allied health roles in nursing, physical therapy, and medical technology are common TN pathways at Mercy.
Which departments at Mercy typically hire TN professionals?
Mercy's hospitals, outpatient clinics, and specialty care centers most frequently hire TN professionals in nursing, physical therapy, occupational therapy, clinical laboratory science, and pharmacy. These departments align closely with the USMCA professions list, making them the most practical entry points for Canadian and Mexican nationals seeking TN admission at Mercy.
How do I start the TN process with Mercy?
Once Mercy extends a job offer, their HR team provides an offer letter confirming your role, duties, salary, and employment period. Canadian nationals present that letter at a U.S. port of entry; Mexican nationals schedule a consulate appointment. There is no USCIS petition and no Labor Condition Application required for TN admission.
How long does TN admission take when joining Mercy?
Canadians can often complete TN admission at the port of entry the same day they arrive, assuming documentation is complete. Mexican nationals face longer timelines tied to consulate appointment availability, which can range from a few weeks to several months depending on location. Build your start date around consulate scheduling in your area.
How do I find open TN-eligible roles at Mercy?
Migrate Mate lets you filter job listings by employer and visa type so you can identify Mercy positions that align with your USMCA profession. Confirm each role's job title and degree requirements match your credentials before applying, since TN eligibility depends on both the occupation category and your specific educational background.
How does TN visa admission work at Mercy?
TN status is granted under the USMCA treaty — there is no USCIS petition or Labor Condition Application required. Canadian citizens can apply directly at a U.S. port of entry with an offer letter from Mercy, while Mexican citizens must first obtain a TN visa at a U.S. consulate. The role must match one of the professions listed in USMCA Appendix 1603.D.1. Migrate Mate filters TN job listings to roles that fall within the eligible profession list.
