Match your credentials to USMCA professions
TN admission is limited to occupations explicitly listed in USMCA. Before applying to NCH, verify your role appears on that list and that your degree aligns with the specific credential requirement for your profession, not just the broader field.
Target departments with chronic staffing gaps
NCH's clinical units, including nursing, radiology, and rehabilitation services, face recurring shortages that make them more likely to issue TN support letters quickly. Applying directly to those departments improves your chances of a fast offer.
Get your credentials evaluated before applying
NCH will want confirmation that your foreign nursing or allied health degree meets U.S. standards. Arrange a credential evaluation through a recognized agency before reaching out, so you can attach it to your application and remove a common hiring objection early.
Ask HR for a TN-specific offer letter
NCH's offer letter must state your USMCA job category, your professional qualifications, the position's purpose, and the intended duration of employment. A generic offer letter won't satisfy a port-of-entry officer, so confirm HR has issued TN letters before and knows what to include.
Search NCH's verified TN hiring history on Migrate Mate
Before applying, search NCH on Migrate Mate to see which roles the hospital has supported for work visa admission. That data helps you target the right departments and confirm your occupation fits NCH's actual hiring patterns rather than guessing from job postings alone.
Prepare for port-of-entry questions about your role
Canadian TN applicants are admitted directly at the border, so officers can ask detailed questions about your position at NCH. Bring your offer letter, degree transcripts, and any professional licenses so you can clearly connect your qualifications to the USMCA profession category you're entering under.
NCH TN Visa Sponsorship: Frequently Asked Questions
Does NCH sponsor TN visas?
NCH supports TN admission by issuing offer letters for qualified Canadian and Mexican professionals in USMCA-listed occupations. The hospital doesn't file a petition with USCIS. Instead, you present NCH's offer letter at a U.S. port of entry or consulate along with your credentials. Clinical roles including nursing, therapy, and medical technology are among the positions NCH regularly supports.
Which NCH departments are most likely to support TN admission?
NCH's nursing units, rehabilitation services, radiology, and laboratory departments are areas where healthcare worker demand is consistent. These departments hire for roles that align directly with USMCA-listed professions, making them the most practical starting point for TN candidates targeting NCH. Searching open roles by department before reaching out to HR helps you focus your effort.
How do I start the TN process with NCH as a Canadian applicant?
Secure a job offer from NCH first. Once HR issues a TN-compliant offer letter confirming your USMCA job category, your qualifications, and the role's duration, you bring that letter along with your degree credentials and professional license to a U.S. land border crossing or pre-clearance location. CBP officers review your documents and, if satisfied, admit you in TN status on the spot.
How long does it take to start working at NCH after getting a TN offer letter?
Canadian applicants can often complete the TN admission process in a single border crossing visit, sometimes the same day NCH finalizes your offer letter. Mexican applicants must schedule a consular interview, which adds weeks depending on appointment availability. In either case, TN admission is generally faster than employer-petitioned visas because there's no USCIS filing queue involved.
How do I find current TN-eligible job openings at NCH?
Migrate Mate lets you search NCH's work visa hiring history and current job postings in one place, so you can identify which roles NCH has supported for work authorization and apply with confidence. You can also check NCH's careers page directly and filter by department. Prioritize roles whose titles match a recognized USMCA profession category to avoid applying for positions that won't qualify.
How does TN visa admission work at NCH?
TN status is granted under the USMCA treaty — there is no USCIS petition or Labor Condition Application required. Canadian citizens can apply directly at a U.S. port of entry with an offer letter from NCH, while Mexican citizens must first obtain a TN visa at a U.S. consulate. The role must match one of the professions listed in USMCA Appendix 1603.D.1. Migrate Mate filters TN job listings to roles that fall within the eligible profession list.
