Match your title to USMCA professions
TN eligibility depends on your job title matching a recognized USMCA profession, not just your skill set. Before applying to North Shore Health, verify your intended role against the official USMCA professions list so your offer letter reflects an approvable TN category.
Highlight healthcare technology experience specifically
North Shore Health sits at the intersection of healthcare and software, so hiring managers want candidates who understand both domains. Tailor your resume to show experience with clinical systems, health IT platforms, or healthcare data environments rather than general software development work.
Request an offer letter that names your TN category
When North Shore Health extends an offer, ask HR to include your specific USMCA profession category and a description of duties in the letter. Border officers and consular officials use that language to confirm TN eligibility, and vague letters cause unnecessary delays or denials.
Benchmark your salary against OFLC Wage Search
TN doesn't require a prevailing wage filing, but North Shore Health will compare your offer to market rates. Run your intended role through OFLC Wage Search before negotiating so your salary expectations align with what the company typically offers for that occupation level.
Find North Shore Health roles using Migrate Mate
Search Migrate Mate to filter North Shore Health openings by TN-eligible occupation categories. The platform surfaces roles where the employer has demonstrated support for TN professionals, letting you prioritize applications to positions most likely to move forward quickly.
Prepare your credential documentation before your border appointment
Canadians present TN documents directly at a port of entry, so you need your degree, transcripts, and offer letter organized before you travel. If your degree is from a non-Canadian institution, have a credential evaluation ready that confirms U.S. equivalency for your specific USMCA profession.
North Shore Health TN Visa Sponsorship: Frequently Asked Questions
Does North Shore Health sponsor TN visas?
Yes, North Shore Health supports TN admission for Canadian and Mexican nationals in eligible technology and software roles. The company issues offer letters that workers present at the border or U.S. consulate. There's no USCIS petition involved. You secure TN status yourself using North Shore Health's documentation.
Which roles at North Shore Health typically qualify for TN status?
North Shore Health hires TN professionals primarily in technology and software functions, including systems analysts, computer systems engineers, and similar roles that appear on the USMCA professions list. Clinical informatics, health IT, and software development positions are common fits. Roles in general administration or support functions typically don't qualify for TN.
How do I start the TN process after receiving an offer from North Shore Health?
Once North Shore Health extends an offer, ask HR for a formal offer letter that names your USMCA profession category and describes your duties. Canadian citizens present that letter, along with degree credentials and a completed TN application, at a U.S. port of entry. Mexican nationals apply at a U.S. consulate before traveling.
How long does TN admission take at the border or consulate?
Canadians applying at a port of entry typically receive a decision the same day if documentation is complete. Mexican nationals applying at a U.S. consulate should expect standard nonimmigrant visa processing times, which vary by location and appointment availability. USCIS provides current processing estimates for consular posts on its website.
How do I find open TN-eligible positions at North Shore Health?
Use Migrate Mate to search North Shore Health's current openings filtered by TN-compatible roles. Confirm each job title maps to a recognized USMCA profession before you apply, since your eligibility depends on that match, not just the department or team. Applying to the right title from the start avoids offer letter revisions later.
How does TN visa admission work at North Shore Health?
TN status is granted under the USMCA treaty — there is no USCIS petition or Labor Condition Application required. Canadian citizens can apply directly at a U.S. port of entry with an offer letter from North Shore Health, while Mexican citizens must first obtain a TN visa at a U.S. consulate. The role must match one of the professions listed in USMCA Appendix 1603.D.1. Migrate Mate filters TN job listings to roles that fall within the eligible profession list.
