Match your credentials to USMCA roles
Novant Health hires for roles like Registered Nurse, Physical Therapist, and Medical Technologist, all on the USMCA TN professions list. Confirm your degree title and licensure align exactly with the designated profession before applying, since a mismatch at the border can result in an immediate denial.
Request a detailed offer letter early
Novant Health's offer letter must specify your job title, duties, salary, and employment start date in terms that map directly to a USMCA profession. Ask your recruiter to route the letter through HR or legal before you travel, since border officers review wording closely and vague letters create unnecessary delays.
Target high-volume clinical departments
Novant Health's acute care units, rehabilitation services, and diagnostic imaging teams consistently fill TN-eligible roles. Focusing your search on these departments increases your odds of landing a position where the hiring team already understands TN admission requirements and can support the documentation process efficiently.
Use Migrate Mate to find active TN openings
Searching broadly across job boards wastes time on roles that don't qualify or employers unfamiliar with TN. Migrate Mate filters Novant Health listings by TN-eligible roles so you're applying to positions where the employer already hires TN professionals, cutting down your research time considerably.
Verify your license is valid in North Carolina
Novant Health operates primarily in North Carolina and Virginia, and border officers may ask for proof of state licensure. Nursing and therapy candidates should confirm their North Carolina license is active before their port-of-entry appointment, since practicing without state authorization is a separate compliance issue from TN status itself.
Prepare for TN renewal before your status expires
TN status is granted in three-year increments with no cap on renewals. If Novant Health continues your employment, you'll need a fresh offer letter and the same supporting credentials for each renewal. Canadian professionals renew at a port of entry; Mexican nationals must renew through a U.S. consulate appointment.
Novant Health TN Visa Sponsorship: Frequently Asked Questions
Does Novant Health sponsor TN visas?
Novant Health supports TN admission by issuing the offer letter and employment documentation Canadian and Mexican professionals need to enter the U.S. under TN status. Because TN is a treaty-based admission category under USMCA rather than an employer-filed petition, Novant Health doesn't submit anything to USCIS on your behalf, you present the documents at the border or consulate yourself.
Which roles at Novant Health qualify for TN status?
TN status covers only the professions listed in the USMCA agreement. At Novant Health, roles that commonly qualify include Registered Nurse, Physical Therapist, Occupational Therapist, Medical Technologist, Pharmacist, and Dietitian. Positions outside that list, such as general administrative or support staff roles, don't qualify regardless of Novant Health's willingness to hire.
How do I find TN-eligible job openings at Novant Health?
Migrate Mate lets you filter Novant Health job listings by TN-eligible roles, so you're not manually cross-referencing the USMCA professions list against every open position. You can also search Novant Health's careers page directly, but confirm each role maps to a recognized TN profession category before investing time in the application.
How long does the TN admission process take at Novant Health?
For Canadian citizens, TN admission happens at the port of entry on the day you travel, no advance filing or appointment is required. Mexican nationals apply at a U.S. consulate, and appointment wait times vary by location and season. Either way, Novant Health's offer letter needs to be finalized before you go, so build that into your start-date planning.
What documents does Novant Health provide for TN admission?
Novant Health typically provides a signed offer letter describing your job title, USMCA profession category, duties, and compensation. You'll also need to bring your own credentials: your degree, professional license, and any credential evaluations if your education is from outside the U.S. or Canada. Review everything together before your border or consulate appointment to confirm nothing is missing.
How does TN visa admission work at Novant Health?
TN status is granted under the USMCA treaty — there is no USCIS petition or Labor Condition Application required. Canadian citizens can apply directly at a U.S. port of entry with an offer letter from Novant Health, while Mexican citizens must first obtain a TN visa at a U.S. consulate. The role must match one of the professions listed in USMCA Appendix 1603.D.1. Migrate Mate filters TN job listings to roles that fall within the eligible profession list.
