Match your credentials to USMCA professions
Ochsner LSU Health System hires TN professionals in roles tied to specific USMCA categories like nurses, physical therapists, and medical technologists. Confirm your occupation appears on the approved professions list before applying, since roles outside it aren't TN-eligible regardless of your qualifications.
Prepare a credential evaluation early
If your nursing or allied health degree comes from a non-U.S. institution, Ochsner LSU recruiters will want proof it meets U.S. equivalency standards. A credential evaluation from a recognized agency, completed before your offer letter stage, prevents delays when the system moves quickly on clinical hires.
Target departments with recurring TN hiring
Clinical support departments, rehabilitation services, and diagnostic imaging at Ochsner LSU regularly bring in TN professionals to fill specialized gaps. Focus your application on these teams rather than administrative or non-clinical roles, which fall outside USMCA's approved professions and won't result in TN admission support.
Use Migrate Mate to find verified TN openings
Filtering job listings manually for TN-eligible roles at large health systems is time-consuming and unreliable. Migrate Mate surfaces verified TN-supporting employers by role type, letting you identify Ochsner LSU openings where your USMCA profession aligns with active hiring rather than guessing from a generic job board.
Request a detailed offer letter before border appointment
For TN admission, your offer letter from Ochsner LSU must specify your USMCA profession category, job duties, salary, and employment start date. Canadian nationals present this directly at the port of entry, so any vague or incomplete language in the letter can result in a CBP refusal on the spot.
Understand the Mexican consular process differs from Canadian
If you're a Mexican national, you'll apply for TN at a U.S. consulate rather than at the border. Gather your Ochsner LSU offer letter, proof of professional credentials, and any licensure documentation well in advance, since consular appointment availability in major Mexican cities can affect your actual start date.

The organization issues offer letters that candidates use at a U.S. port of entry or consulate. These occupations appear directly on the USMCA professions list. Mexican nationals schedule a U.S. consular appointment and present the same documentation for visa issuance before traveling.
How long does the TN process take when working with Ochsner LSU?
For Canadian nationals, TN admission at the border can happen the same day once you have the offer letter and supporting credentials in hand. Plan your start date accordingly when negotiating with Ochsner LSU.
How do I find TN-eligible job openings at Ochsner LSU Health System?
Migrate Mate lists TN-supporting employers by role type, making it easier to identify current Ochsner LSU openings that align with your USMCA profession before you apply.
