Verify your role appears on the USMCA list
Not every healthcare title at Penn State Health qualifies for TN admission. Cross-reference your exact job title against the USMCA professions list before applying. Registered nurses, pharmacists, and physical therapists are covered, but medical assistants and patient care technicians are not.
Match your credentials to the specific profession
Penn State Health operates under Pennsylvania licensure requirements. Before your border appointment, confirm your foreign credentials have been evaluated and that your degree maps to the USMCA profession category your offer letter specifies, mismatches at the port of entry cause immediate TN denials.
Target Penn State Health's academic medical departments
Penn State Health's Hershey Medical Center runs teaching programs in pharmacy, physical therapy, and diagnostic imaging. These departments have consistent TN hiring patterns because of specialized clinical demand. Filtering your job search by department rather than by location improves your odds of landing a TN-eligible role.
Use Migrate Mate to confirm TN filing history by role
Before reaching out to Penn State Health recruiters, search Migrate Mate to see which specific job titles and departments have historically supported TN professionals. That data shapes which roles to prioritize and which departments to reference in your outreach, saving you wasted applications.
Request your offer letter before scheduling border entry
Penn State Health's offer letter must specify your TN profession category, your job duties, your start date, and the intended duration of employment. Canadian nationals present this letter at a land border or airport port of entry. Don't schedule your crossing until HR confirms the letter matches USCIS's TN profession definitions precisely.
Prepare for same-day admission as a Canadian national
Canadian citizens can receive TN admission at the port of entry without a prior visa stamp. Bring your passport, the Penn State Health offer letter, your degree transcripts, and your professional license. Border officers adjudicate TN on the spot, so every document must be organized and immediately accessible.
