Match your credential to USMCA exactly
TN eligibility turns on your specific occupation and degree, not your years of experience. Cross-reference your credentials against the USMCA professions list before applying, because Sevita can only issue an offer letter for roles that fall within its defined categories.
Target Sevita's clinical and direct-support roles
Sevita's hiring centers on behavioral health, developmental disability services, and allied health positions. Focus your search on roles like registered nurse, medical social worker, or vocational counselor, since these map most cleanly to USMCA-listed healthcare and human services occupations.
Prepare a credential equivalency letter early
If your degree is from a Canadian or Mexican institution, a credential evaluation confirming U.S. equivalency strengthens your file at the border. Sevita's HR teams in healthcare are familiar with international credentials, but a third-party evaluation removes ambiguity before the offer letter stage.
Use Migrate Mate to find Sevita's active TN openings
Sevita's TN-eligible postings don't always use TN-specific language. Search Migrate Mate to surface Sevita roles filtered by TN-compatible occupations, so you're applying to positions where the employer already has a track record of supporting TN admissions rather than guessing from a generic job board.
Confirm your offer letter covers all required elements
Before presenting at the port of entry or a U.S. consulate, verify that Sevita's offer letter states your USMCA occupation classification, your intended duties, your wage, and that the position is temporary. Missing any element gives a border officer grounds to request clarification or deny admission.
Plan your admission timeline around your start date
Canadian nationals can seek TN admission directly at a port of entry without scheduling, but Mexican nationals need a consular appointment, which can add several weeks. Align your Sevita start date with your realistic admission timeline so there's no gap between your offer letter date and your first day.
Sevita TN Visa Sponsorship: Frequently Asked Questions
Does Sevita sponsor TN visas?
Sevita supports TN admission by issuing offer letters for qualifying Canadian and Mexican professionals in healthcare and human services occupations. Because TN is a treaty-based status under USMCA, there's no USCIS petition involved. You present Sevita's offer letter at the border or a U.S. consulate along with your credentials to establish eligibility.
Which roles at Sevita are eligible for TN status?
Eligibility is governed by the USMCA professions list, not Sevita's internal hiring preferences. At Sevita, roles in registered nursing, social work, vocational rehabilitation counseling, and allied health services align most commonly with listed TN occupations. Roles in direct support or general administration typically fall outside TN eligibility regardless of employer.
How do I start the TN process with Sevita?
Once Sevita extends a job offer, you request a TN support letter from HR that details your USMCA occupation category, job duties, and compensation. Canadian nationals then proceed directly to a port of entry. Mexican nationals schedule a nonimmigrant visa appointment at a U.S. consulate. USCIS is not involved in this process.
How long does TN admission take when working with Sevita?
For Canadian nationals, admission at the border is typically same-day once documents are in order. For Mexican nationals, the timeline depends on consular appointment availability, which can range from a few weeks to longer depending on the post. Build this into your negotiations with Sevita so your start date is realistic.
How do I find TN-eligible job openings at Sevita?
Sevita posts openings across multiple platforms, but not all listings specify TN compatibility. Migrate Mate filters employer job postings by visa type, making it easier to identify Sevita roles that match USMCA-listed occupations. Cross-check any role's required degree and duties against the USMCA professions list before applying to confirm your occupation qualifies.
How does TN visa admission work at Sevita?
TN status is granted under the USMCA treaty — there is no USCIS petition or Labor Condition Application required. Canadian citizens can apply directly at a U.S. port of entry with an offer letter from Sevita, while Mexican citizens must first obtain a TN visa at a U.S. consulate. The role must match one of the professions listed in USMCA Appendix 1603.D.1. Migrate Mate filters TN job listings to roles that fall within the eligible profession list.
