Match your credentials to USMCA professions
St. Jude hires heavily in clinical and research roles, but TN admission only covers professions explicitly listed under USMCA. Verify your occupation code against the official list before applying, since job titles in healthcare often vary from the qualifying USMCA category names.
Request a detailed offer letter early
St. Jude's HR team issues offer letters that support TN admission, but the letter must specify your USMCA profession category, job duties, and employment period. Ask for these details explicitly during the offer stage so you're not renegotiating the letter the week before your border appointment.
Verify your nursing or allied health license transfers
Many TN-eligible roles at St. Jude require active U.S. state licensure before you can practice, especially for registered nurses and clinical professionals. Confirm Tennessee licensing requirements and NCLEX reciprocity with your home country credential before accepting an offer to avoid a gap between TN admission and your start date.
Prepare credential evaluations for research roles
For scientist and engineer positions at St. Jude, border officers may scrutinize whether your degree directly supports the offered role. Have a credential evaluation from a recognized service ready that maps your foreign degree to the equivalent U.S. qualification, particularly if your degree title differs from standard U.S. terminology.
Use Migrate Mate to identify open TN roles at St. Jude
Targeting St. Jude specifically before reaching out saves time. Migrate Mate surfaces roles at employers with documented TN hiring history, so you can see which St. Jude positions align with USMCA-eligible professions and apply before roles close internally.
Plan your entry timing around hospital credentialing
TN admission is granted at the port of entry for Canadians or at a U.S. consulate for Mexicans, but St. Jude's onboarding process includes hospital credentialing and background checks that run concurrently. Confirm with your hiring contact whether your start date accounts for this window so TN status and your first day align.
St. Jude Children's Research Hospital TN Visa Sponsorship: Frequently Asked Questions
Does St. Jude Children's Research Hospital sponsor TN visas?
St. Jude Children's Research Hospital hires TN professionals in eligible healthcare and research roles. Rather than filing a petition, St. Jude issues an offer letter that Canadian nationals present at the border and Mexican nationals use to apply at a U.S. consulate. The role must fall under a USMCA-listed profession for TN admission to apply.
Which departments at St. Jude typically hire TN professionals?
Clinical nursing, biomedical research, laboratory sciences, and allied health are the departments at St. Jude most aligned with USMCA-eligible TN professions. Registered nurses, scientific researchers, and clinical laboratory technologists regularly fill roles that qualify under the professions list. Administrative and support roles generally do not meet TN eligibility criteria.
How do I start the TN process once St. Jude extends an offer?
Once St. Jude extends an offer, work with HR to obtain a detailed offer letter that names your USMCA profession category, describes your job duties, and confirms the employment period. Canadian nationals take this letter to a U.S. port of entry. Mexican nationals use it to schedule a consular appointment. USCIS is not involved in either process.
How long does TN admission take for a St. Jude hire?
Canadian nationals typically receive a TN admission decision the same day at the port of entry if documentation is complete. Mexican nationals face longer timelines because consular appointment availability varies by location. Build in at least several weeks for the consular route, and confirm your start date with St. Jude only after your appointment is scheduled.
How do I find TN-eligible open roles at St. Jude?
Start by reviewing St. Jude's careers page and filtering for clinical, scientific, and allied health positions. Migrate Mate can help you identify roles at St. Jude and similar healthcare employers with TN hiring history, so you're targeting positions that align with USMCA-eligible professions rather than applying broadly and discovering eligibility issues after an offer.
How does TN visa admission work at St. Jude Children's Research Hospital?
TN status is granted under the USMCA treaty — there is no USCIS petition or Labor Condition Application required. Canadian citizens can apply directly at a U.S. port of entry with an offer letter from St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, while Mexican citizens must first obtain a TN visa at a U.S. consulate. The role must match one of the professions listed in USMCA Appendix 1603.D.1. Migrate Mate filters TN job listings to roles that fall within the eligible profession list.
