Founded in the early 1970s by four African American women in Peekskill, New York, the organization was established to address the lack of accessible health services in their community. With the help of a small federal grant, the first Sun River Health site opened its doors in 1975. Over the years, Sun River Health has grown into a comprehensive Federally Qualified Health Center (FQHC) system with over 45 locations, serving more than 250,000 patients across the Hudson Valley, New York City and Long Island. Our exceptional primary care practitioners, specialists and support staff are dedicated to delivering high-quality care to all individuals, regardless of their ability to pay. Match your credentials to USMCA professions
Sun River Health hires across clinical disciplines, but TN admission is restricted to occupations listed under USMCA. Cross-reference your role against the official USMCA professions list before applying. Registered nurses, physical therapists, and medical technologists are among the categories commonly relevant to federally qualified health centers.
Target community health and primary care roles
Sun River Health operates as a federally qualified health center, so its hiring concentrates in primary care, behavioral health, and preventive services. Focus your search on these departments rather than specialty units, where TN-eligible roles are less frequently posted and offer letter issuance is less routine.
Request your offer letter before crossing the border
As a Canadian, you present your offer letter directly at a port of entry, not through USCIS. Confirm with Sun River Health's HR team that the letter specifies your USMCA profession category, your job duties, and your employment start date before you travel. Missing details cause border denials.
Verify your wage against OFLC prevailing rates
Although TN doesn't require a formal Labor Condition Application, your offered salary should align with prevailing wage levels for your occupation and location. Use the OFLC Wage Search to check New York rates for your role before accepting an offer, so you can negotiate from an informed position.
Use Migrate Mate to find Sun River Health TN openings
Finding roles at employers who actively support TN admission takes more than a standard job search. Migrate Mate filters listings by TN-sponsoring employers in healthcare, letting you identify Sun River Health openings where TN candidates are already being considered rather than cold-applying and explaining your status from scratch.
Prepare your credential verification documents early
Sun River Health roles in nursing and allied health require state licensure, and some require CGFNS certification for internationally trained professionals. Start the credential evaluation process before your job search, since state board processing in New York can take months and a pending license blocks your start date.
Sun River Health TN Visa Sponsorship: Frequently Asked Questions
Does Sun River Health sponsor TN visas?
Sun River Health hires TN professionals by issuing offer letters for qualifying USMCA occupations. There's no USCIS petition involved. Canadian nationals present the offer letter at a port of entry, while Mexican nationals use it to apply at a U.S. consulate. Roles in nursing, therapy, and clinical support are the most common entry points.
Which departments at Sun River Health typically hire TN candidates?
As a federally qualified health center, Sun River Health's hiring centers on primary care, behavioral health, dental, and preventive services. TN-eligible roles in these departments include registered nurses, social workers, physical therapists, and medical technologists. Specialty or administrative roles outside the USMCA professions list don't qualify for TN admission regardless of the employer.
How do I start the TN process with Sun River Health?
Once you receive and accept a job offer, Sun River Health's HR team issues a support letter confirming your USMCA profession, job duties, and employment terms. Canadian nationals take that letter to a port of entry on the day of travel. Mexican nationals submit it as part of a consular visa application. No petition is filed with USCIS at any stage.
How long does the TN process take when working with Sun River Health?
For Canadian nationals, TN admission happens at the border on the day you travel, assuming your documents are complete and the officer is satisfied. Mexican nationals apply at a consulate, where processing typically runs one to three weeks after the interview. Sun River Health's timeline is mainly internal: how quickly HR issues the offer letter after you accept.
How do I find open TN roles at Sun River Health?
Migrate Mate lists open positions at employers that support TN admission, including healthcare organizations like Sun River Health, so you can filter by visa type and focus on roles where your status is already understood. Confirm that any role you apply for maps to a recognized USMCA profession before submitting, since not every healthcare title qualifies.
How does TN visa admission work at Sun River Health?
TN status is granted under the USMCA treaty — there is no USCIS petition or Labor Condition Application required. Canadian citizens can apply directly at a U.S. port of entry with an offer letter from Sun River Health, while Mexican citizens must first obtain a TN visa at a U.S. consulate. The role must match one of the professions listed in USMCA Appendix 1603.D.1. Migrate Mate filters TN job listings to roles that fall within the eligible profession list.
