Match your credentials to USMCA professions
TN admission is limited to roles on the USMCA professions list, so confirm your occupation qualifies before applying to Mass General Brigham. Clinical roles like RN, physical therapist, and medical technologist appear on the list; general administrative or support roles do not.
Target departments with recurring TN activity
Mass General Brigham's research institutes, specialty nursing units, and clinical laboratory teams have historically needed TN-eligible professionals. Targeting posted roles in these areas increases your chances of finding hiring managers already familiar with TN admission requirements.
Request a detailed offer letter from HR
Your TN offer letter must describe your professional capacity, the specific duties, your credentials, and your intended length of stay. Mass General Brigham's HR team issues these letters, but you'll need to confirm the letter explicitly supports TN classification for your occupation category.
Verify wage alignment before your border appointment
Although TN doesn't require an LCA, your offered salary should align with prevailing wages for your occupation and location. Use the OFLC Wage Search and O*NET to benchmark rates for your role in the Boston metro area before your interview or port-of-entry presentation.
Search verified TN employer data on Migrate Mate
Use Migrate Mate to identify open roles at Mass General Brigham filtered by visa type and department. The platform surfaces employer filing history so you can see which teams actively hire TN professionals, helping you prioritize applications to the right units within the system.
Prepare Canadian credential documentation in advance
Canadian citizens present TN documentation directly at a U.S. port of entry, with no consular appointment needed. Bring your degree transcripts, professional license, and the Mass General Brigham offer letter together in one organized package to avoid delays or secondary inspection.
The General Hospital Corporation TN Visa Sponsorship: Frequently Asked Questions
Does The General Hospital Corporation sponsor TN visas?
Mass General Brigham supports TN admission for Canadian and Mexican professionals in qualifying USMCA occupations. Rather than filing a petition, the organization issues an offer letter that you present at the border or consulate. Clinical, research, and allied health roles are the most common pathways for TN candidates within the system.
Which roles and departments typically support TN admission at Mass General Brigham?
Roles in nursing, physical and occupational therapy, clinical laboratory science, and biomedical research align well with USMCA professions. Mass General Brigham's teaching hospitals and research institutes have recurring need for these professionals, making them natural entry points for TN candidates with the right credentials and licensure.
How do I start the TN process after receiving a job offer from Mass General Brigham?
After accepting an offer, request a TN support letter from Mass General Brigham's HR team. The letter must detail your role, duties, credentials, and intended employment period. Canadian citizens then present the letter at a U.S. port of entry. Mexican citizens schedule a nonimmigrant visa appointment at a U.S. consulate.
How long does it take to start working after Mass General Brigham issues a TN offer letter?
Canadians can receive TN admission the same day they present their documentation at the port of entry, so the timeline is primarily driven by how quickly HR finalizes the offer letter. Mexican citizens face longer waits due to consular appointment availability. Factor in credential verification time when planning your start date.
How do I find open TN-eligible positions at Mass General Brigham?
Migrate Mate lists verified open roles at employers with TN hiring activity, including Mass General Brigham. Filter by visa type and department to surface positions in units most likely to support TN admission. You can also search Mass General Brigham's careers portal directly and filter by clinical or research job categories that map to USMCA professions.
How does TN visa admission work at The General Hospital Corporation?
TN status is granted under the USMCA treaty — there is no USCIS petition or Labor Condition Application required. Canadian citizens can apply directly at a U.S. port of entry with an offer letter from The General Hospital Corporation, while Mexican citizens must first obtain a TN visa at a U.S. consulate. The role must match one of the professions listed in USMCA Appendix 1603.D.1. Migrate Mate filters TN job listings to roles that fall within the eligible profession list.
