Verify your role appears on USMCA
TN admission is limited to professions explicitly listed in the USMCA treaty. Before applying to UMass Memorial Health, cross-reference your job title against the USMCA professions list and confirm your degree field aligns. A mismatch at the border can result in an immediate denial.
Target clinical departments with recurring vacancies
UMass Memorial Health consistently hires for registered nursing, physical therapy, and medical laboratory roles. Focusing your search on these departments raises your odds of landing an offer in a TN-eligible position rather than a role outside the approved profession list.
Request a detailed support letter from HR
Your TN admission depends almost entirely on the offer letter UMass Memorial Health's HR team prepares. Ask explicitly that it states your USMCA profession category, your degree requirement, your intended duties, and the employment period. Vague letters are a leading cause of port-of-entry delays.
Benchmark your salary against OFLC Wage Search
Even though TN doesn't require a Labor Condition Application, border officers can scrutinize whether your offered wage reflects legitimate professional employment. Run your role and location through OFLC Wage Search before your border appointment to confirm the offer is defensible.
Use Migrate Mate to find TN-ready openings
Searching broadly across job boards wastes time on roles that won't qualify. Migrate Mate filters for employers with documented TN hiring history, so you can identify UMass Memorial Health positions where TN admission is a realistic outcome rather than an uncertain ask.
Prepare your credential documents before your interview
UMass Memorial Health's credentialing process for licensed clinical roles runs parallel to immigration steps. Have your foreign degree evaluation, state license application, and professional references ready before your border appointment so employment can begin as soon as TN admission is granted.
UMass Memorial Health TN Visa Sponsorship: Frequently Asked Questions
Does UMass Memorial Health sponsor TN visas?
UMass Memorial Health supports TN admission for Canadian and Mexican professionals in eligible roles. Because TN is treaty-based, the process doesn't involve a USCIS petition. UMass Memorial Health's HR team issues an offer letter confirming your role, qualifications, and employment terms, which you present at a port of entry or U.S. consulate.
Which roles and departments at UMass Memorial Health typically qualify for TN admission?
Clinical and allied health positions are the most common fit. Registered nurses, physical therapists, occupational therapists, medical technologists, and pharmacists regularly appear in TN-eligible hiring at UMass Memorial Health. Roles must correspond to a USMCA-listed profession and require a qualifying degree, so administrative or support positions rarely qualify.
How do I start the TN process with UMass Memorial Health?
After receiving a job offer, UMass Memorial Health's HR or international staffing team prepares a support letter documenting your profession, duties, and qualifications. You then present this letter along with your degree credentials at a port of entry (if Canadian) or at a U.S. consulate (if Mexican). No USCIS filing is involved.
How long does TN admission take at UMass Memorial Health?
For Canadian citizens, TN admission is decided at the port of entry on the same day, assuming your documents are complete. Mexican nationals apply at a U.S. consulate, where processing typically takes a few weeks after the interview. Your start date at UMass Memorial Health should account for whichever path applies to you.
How do I find open TN-eligible jobs at UMass Memorial Health?
Migrate Mate surfaces UMass Memorial Health openings filtered for TN-compatible roles, so you can focus on positions where the employer has a track record of supporting TN professionals. You can also search UMass Memorial Health's careers page directly, but confirm any role aligns with the USMCA professions list before investing time in the application.
How does TN visa admission work at UMass Memorial Health?
TN status is granted under the USMCA treaty — there is no USCIS petition or Labor Condition Application required. Canadian citizens can apply directly at a U.S. port of entry with an offer letter from UMass Memorial Health, while Mexican citizens must first obtain a TN visa at a U.S. consulate. The role must match one of the professions listed in USMCA Appendix 1603.D.1. Migrate Mate filters TN job listings to roles that fall within the eligible profession list.
