Match your credentials to USMCA professions
TN admission at University Health is only available for roles on the USMCA professions list. Cross-reference your occupation against that list before applying, a registered nurse, medical technologist, or pharmacist qualifies, but a general healthcare administrator does not.
Verify your degree aligns with the role
University Health will issue an offer letter, but the border officer decides whether your credentials match the job. Make sure your degree field directly corresponds to the TN occupation category, a nursing degree for an RN role, not a general biology degree.
Target departments with recurring TN hiring
University Health's clinical departments, including acute care nursing units, laboratory services, and pharmacy, have consistent demand for TN professionals. Focus your applications on these areas rather than administrative or support roles that typically fall outside USMCA-eligible categories.
Use Migrate Mate to find active TN openings
Searching broadly for healthcare jobs wastes time on employers unlikely to support TN admission. Migrate Mate filters roles at University Health and similar systems by visa type, so you're only seeing positions where TN professionals are actively hired.
Request an offer letter that satisfies CBP requirements
University Health's offer letter must specify your job title, duties, required credentials, and that the position is temporary. At the port of entry, CBP officers scrutinize these details. Ask HR to confirm the letter addresses all TN documentation requirements before your travel date.
Prepare a clear credential package for the border
Canadian nationals present TN documentation directly to CBP without a prior USCIS filing. Bring your offer letter, original degree transcripts, professional license if required for your role, and a current resume. Incomplete documentation is the most common reason for TN delays or denials at entry.
University Health TN Visa Sponsorship: Frequently Asked Questions
Does University Health sponsor TN visas?
Yes. University Health hires TN professionals in healthcare roles that appear on the USMCA professions list. Rather than filing a petition with USCIS, University Health issues an offer letter that Canadian nationals present at a port of entry and Mexican nationals use to apply at a U.S. consulate. There is no USCIS petition or Labor Condition Application involved.
Which roles at University Health are eligible for TN admission?
TN-eligible roles at University Health are limited to USMCA-listed occupations. In a healthcare system, that typically includes registered nurses, pharmacists, medical technologists, physical therapists, and scientific roles requiring a relevant bachelor's degree or higher. Roles like general healthcare administration or patient services coordination generally fall outside the USMCA professions list and are not TN-eligible.
How do I get a TN offer letter from University Health?
Once University Health extends a job offer, ask HR specifically for a TN support letter. It must state your job title, a summary of duties, the USMCA profession category your role falls under, your required credentials, and confirmation that the position is temporary in nature. Review it carefully before travel, CBP officers at the border base their decision on this document.
How long does TN admission take when starting at University Health?
For Canadian nationals, TN admission happens at the port of entry on the same day if documentation is complete, no advance USCIS filing is required. Mexican nationals apply at a U.S. consulate, which typically adds two to four weeks. TN status is granted in three-year increments and can be renewed indefinitely as long as you remain in a qualifying role.
How do I find TN-eligible job openings at University Health?
Start by searching for roles that match USMCA-listed occupations in University Health's clinical and scientific departments. Migrate Mate filters healthcare job listings by visa type, making it easier to identify positions at University Health and similar systems where TN professionals are actively hired. Cross-check any target role against O*NET to confirm the occupation aligns with a recognized USMCA profession category.
How does TN visa admission work at University Health?
TN status is granted under the USMCA treaty — there is no USCIS petition or Labor Condition Application required. Canadian citizens can apply directly at a U.S. port of entry with an offer letter from University Health, while Mexican citizens must first obtain a TN visa at a U.S. consulate. The role must match one of the professions listed in USMCA Appendix 1603.D.1. Migrate Mate filters TN job listings to roles that fall within the eligible profession list.
