INTRODUCTION

Zoox is expanding its focus within the IT Platform team to further our mission of providing Autonomous Mobility. We are seeking a Senior-level Cloud Engineer to support and enhance our use of AWS services. This role involves working cross-functionally with multiple engineering teams to ensure the best practices in cloud infrastructure.

ROLE AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Technical and Business Relationship: Maintain and manage the technical and business relationship between Zoox and its cloud providers.
Cost Management: Understand and maintain costs associated with Zoox's cloud platforms, ensuring cost efficiency and optimization.
AWS Best Practices: Implement AWS best practices for security, operations, cost management, resiliency, and performance across Zoox's cloud platforms.
Cloud Center of Excellence: Establish and lead a cloud center of excellence to drive innovation, efficiency, and best practices in cloud infrastructure.
* Hybrid Cloud Strategy: Collaborate with multiple engineering teams to refine and enhance Zoox's hybrid cloud strategy.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

AWS/GCP Expertise: Strong understanding of cloud products and services in a production environment, including infrastructure, capacity planning, scalability, backups, storage, security best practices, and emerging technologies.
IaC: Orchestration, Best practices, delivery, support self service user community - Terraform preferred but CloudFormation would be considered.
Automation Skills: Proven understanding of AI based software development best practices, programming/scripting languages, and Infrastructure as Code patterns.
Observability: Building dashboards and alerting systems, understanding and implementing observability frameworks.
Cost Optimization: Proven ability to identify and implement cost optimization practices within AWS ecosystems, including total cost of ownership, cloud cost optimization tools, and cost reporting services.
Cloud Computing Strategies: Deep understanding of cloud computing strategies and architecture, such as multi-cloud, hybrid and multi-user environments.
Cross-functional Collaboration: Ability to work effectively with cross-functional teams, including Engineering, Operations, and Business Units, to achieve business objectives.
Communication Skills: Expert written and verbal communication skills, with a proven ability to communicate effectively with all levels of business.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

Security Best Practices: Experience with AWS security best practices and compliance.
Team Leadership: Proven track record of working in a collaborative, team-oriented environment, with the ability to lead and mentor junior team members.
Kubernetes: Experience designing, deploying, and running containerized services, mostly on EKS.
AI/ML Services: Understanding of AI/ML AWS services and best practices.

COMPENSATION

- Base Salary Range: $236,000 - $297,000 a year

There are three major components to compensation for this position: salary, Amazon Restricted Stock Units (RSUs), and Zoox Stock Appreciation Rights. A sign-on bonus may be offered as part of the compensation package. The listed range applies only to the base salary. Compensation will vary based on geographic location and level. Leveling, as well as positioning within a level, is determined by a range of factors, including, but not limited to, a candidate's relevant years of experience, domain knowledge, and interview performance. The salary range listed in this posting is representative of the range of levels Zoox is considering for this position. Zoox also offers a comprehensive package of benefits, including paid time off (e.g. sick leave, vacation, bereavement), unpaid time off, Zoox Stock Appreciation Rights, Amazon RSUs, health insurance, long-term care insurance, long-term and short-term disability insurance, and life insurance.
