INTRODUCTION
The Robot Dynamics team at Zoox is responsible for the vehicle dynamics performance of our robot. Our team is the engine behind Zoox’s vehicle dynamics development. We don't just "test" vehicles; we translate data into technical insights that drive critical engineering decisions. We are looking for an engineer with strong vehicle dynamics chops and a can-do mindset—someone who can use modern data analysis tools to turn questions into answers rapidly, find the signal in the noise, and provide the broader team with clear options for advancing the vehicle dynamics performance of our robots.
ROLE AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Conduct virtual ride and handling assessments to identify critical trade-offs and lead testing activities
Analyze simulation and vehicle data to provide quick-turnaround insights on vehicle behavior, identify performance gaps, and propose hardware or software solutions.
Distill complex vehicle dynamics phenomena into clear, data-backed options for the broader engineering team to consider during design and tuning cycles.
Contribute to the core Zoox vehicle model to improve realism and simulation capabilities
* Use simulation and data analysis to evaluate vehicle stability in limit-handling maneuvers and safety-critical failure modes.
BASIC QUALIFICATIONS
5+ years of experience and a Bachelor's in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or a related field
Strong first-principles command of vehicle dynamics (e.g. tire modeling, load transfer, kinematics, and frequency response).
Experience with vehicle dynamics CAE development tools, such as Dymola, IPG CarMaker, MSC Adams
Proven ability to look at complex, multi-dimensional data and extract clear actionable insight
Programming experience with Python or a similar scripting language
Ability to translate highly technical data into concise summaries and actionable recommendations for cross-functional partners.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
Master’s or PhD in Mechanical Engineering with a focus on dynamics or controls.
Hands-on physical testing experience (proving grounds, Formula SAE, or professional motorsports).
Experience with DOE/optimization workflows
Strong programming experience: Python, C++
COMPENSATION
- Base Salary Range: $145,000 - $183,000 a year
There are three major components to compensation for this position: salary, Amazon Restricted Stock Units (RSUs), and Zoox Stock Appreciation Rights. A sign-on bonus may be offered as part of the compensation package. The listed range applies only to the base salary. Compensation will vary based on geographic location and level. Document Your EV and AV System Experience
Zoox builds purpose-built autonomous vehicles, so hands-on experience with high-voltage systems, battery packs, or robotics integration strengthens your application. Gather certifications, service records, or project documentation that shows this specialized background before you apply.
Target Zoox's Test Fleet and Prototype Teams
Mechanic openings at Zoox are often tied to expanding test fleets rather than production lines. Focus your search on roles involving vehicle preparation, diagnostics, and hardware validation, where international candidates with specialized builds experience tend to get traction.
Use Migrate Mate to Filter Zoox Mechanic Openings
Zoox posts Mechanic roles across multiple job boards, making it easy to miss sponsorship-eligible positions. Use Migrate Mate to filter specifically for Zoox openings that align with your visa type, so you're only spending time on roles where sponsorship is confirmed.
Clarify Your Visa Category Early in Interviews
Zoox sponsors several visa types for Mechanic roles, including H-1B, E-3, TN, and F-1 OPT. Confirming which category fits your situation before the offer stage prevents delays, since your employer's HR and immigration counsel need lead time to prepare the correct USCIS petition.
Verify Your Employer's E-Verify Enrollment Before Accepting
Federal contractors and companies with active government relationships are required to use E-Verify. Confirm Zoox's E-Verify status directly with HR when you receive an offer, since your I-9 and work authorization verification process depends on which employment eligibility system the facility uses.

Find Mechanic at Zoox JobsFrequently Asked Questions
Does Zoox sponsor H-1B visas for Mechanics?
Yes, Zoox sponsors H-1B visas for Mechanic roles. Because Mechanic positions in autonomous vehicle development often require specialized technical knowledge, they can qualify as specialty occupations under USCIS criteria. Cap-subject petitions are subject to the annual lottery, so timing your application with a sponsoring employer well before the March registration window matters.
Which visa types are commonly used for Mechanic roles at Zoox?
Zoox sponsors across several categories for Mechanic positions, including H-1B, E-3 for Australian citizens, TN for Canadian and Mexican nationals, F-1 OPT and CPT for students, and EB-2 or EB-3 for permanent residence pathways. The right category depends on your nationality, education, and how long you need work authorization to remain valid.
What qualifications and experience does Zoox expect for Mechanic positions?
Zoox Mechanic roles typically require hands-on experience with vehicle systems, diagnostics, and hardware assembly, with a strong preference for candidates familiar with electric or autonomous vehicle platforms. Formal trade certifications, experience with high-voltage battery systems, and the ability to work in a fast-moving prototype environment are commonly cited in their job postings.
How do I apply for Mechanic jobs at Zoox?
Applications go through Zoox's careers portal. To find Mechanic openings that specifically offer visa sponsorship, use Migrate Mate to filter Zoox listings by visa type before applying. Tailor your resume to highlight relevant vehicle systems experience and include any certifications upfront, since Zoox's technical screeners prioritize hands-on qualifications over general mechanical background.
How do I time the visa process when starting a Mechanic role at Zoox?
Timeline depends on your visa category. Cap-subject H-1B petitions lock you into an October 1 start date, meaning USCIS registration happens in March and approval follows months later. E-3 and TN visas move faster and can often be processed at a consulate or port of entry within weeks of a job offer, making them practical for candidates who need to start sooner.
