Certify equipment-specific credentials before applying
Lam Research builds etch, deposition, and clean systems for semiconductor fabs. Certifications in vacuum systems, plasma equipment, or cleanroom protocols signal directly relevant hands-on experience and strengthen your H-1B or TN petition from the start.
Target fab-adjacent Mechanic postings specifically
Not all Mechanic openings at Lam Research require the same visa pathway. Postings tied to field service or equipment installation in semiconductor facilities are more likely to support H-1B specialty occupation arguments than general maintenance roles.
Use Migrate Mate to filter open Mechanic roles
Sponsorship-eligible Mechanic positions at Lam Research cycle in and out frequently. Use Migrate Mate to filter active postings by visa type so you apply to roles where sponsorship is already confirmed, not assumed.
Understand how TN status applies to your situation
Canadian and Mexican nationals in skilled trades can qualify for TN status if the role maps to a covered USMCA occupation. Confirm with Lam Research's HR whether the specific Mechanic posting supports TN before your offer letter is finalized.
Align your resume to DOL prevailing wage job codes
For H-1B or PERM-backed roles, Lam Research's legal team will assign a DOL Standard Occupational Classification code to your position. Framing your resume around precision systems maintenance, calibration, and semiconductor equipment repair supports higher wage tier placement.
Clarify OPT STEM extension eligibility during offer negotiations
Lam Research is an E-Verify employer, which is a prerequisite for the 24-month STEM OPT extension. If your degree is in engineering technology or a related STEM field, confirm the role qualifies under your designated school official before signing.

Find Mechanic at Lam Research JobsFrequently Asked Questions
Does Lam Research sponsor H-1B visas for Mechanics?
Yes. Lam Research has a documented history of sponsoring H-1B visas across technical and trades functions, including Mechanic roles tied to semiconductor equipment. The strongest candidates are those whose positions can be framed as requiring specialized knowledge of plasma, vacuum, or deposition systems, which supports the specialty occupation standard USCIS requires.
How do I apply for Mechanic jobs at Lam Research?
Applications go through Lam Research's careers portal. Before applying, browse open Mechanic postings on Migrate Mate to identify which roles explicitly support visa sponsorship. Tailor your application to highlight semiconductor equipment experience, cleanroom certifications, and any hands-on work with the specific tool families Lam Research manufactures, such as etch or CVD systems.
Which visa types are commonly used for Mechanic roles at Lam Research?
H-1B is the most common pathway for international Mechanics at Lam Research, particularly for roles requiring specialized semiconductor equipment knowledge. F-1 OPT and CPT are available for students in relevant engineering or technology programs. Canadian and Mexican nationals may qualify for TN status. For longer-term employment, EB-2 and EB-3 Green Card sponsorship is available for eligible candidates.
What qualifications does Lam Research expect for sponsored Mechanic positions?
Lam Research typically looks for experience maintaining or servicing complex electromechanical systems, with preference for semiconductor or related high-tech manufacturing environments. Familiarity with vacuum systems, RF power supplies, or cleanroom protocols strengthens your profile. An associate degree or higher in a technical field, combined with relevant industry certifications, aligns well with the specialty occupation framing needed for H-1B sponsorship.
How long does the visa sponsorship process take for a Mechanic role at Lam Research?
For H-1B sponsorship, Lam Research must first file a Labor Condition Application with DOL, which typically takes up to seven business days. The H-1B petition is then filed with USCIS, with standard processing running three to six months. Premium processing reduces USCIS adjudication to 15 business days. Cap-subject H-1B roles are subject to the annual lottery, with a start date of October 1 for the fiscal year.
