Document your hands-on technical certifications early
Apple's Mechanic roles often require certifications in HVAC, electrical systems, or industrial equipment. Gather these credentials before applying and confirm they meet U.S. equivalency standards, since foreign trade certifications may need additional verification during the H-1B specialty occupation assessment.
Target Apple's facilities and retail operations teams
Apple hires Mechanics across data centers, Apple Park, and flagship retail locations. Search specifically for openings tied to Facilities Management or Retail Operations rather than product engineering, since those teams have the clearest sponsorship precedent for maintenance and mechanical trade roles.
Browse Apple Mechanic openings on Migrate Mate
Use Migrate Mate to filter for Mechanic positions at Apple that are open to visa sponsorship. The platform surfaces roles by visa type, so you can identify which openings align with your current status, whether F-1 OPT, H-1B, or TN.
Understand how TN status applies to your role
If you're a Canadian or Mexican citizen, TN classification is available for certain technical roles at Apple without a lottery. Confirm your job duties align with an eligible TN occupational category before assuming eligibility, since general Mechanic titles don't automatically qualify without a degree or license match.
Prepare for Apple's technical assessment before the offer stage
Apple typically includes a practical or scenario-based skills evaluation for Mechanic candidates. Delays at this stage can compress your H-1B filing window, so move through assessments promptly and confirm with your recruiter whether the role is eligible for cap-exempt or premium processing.
Confirm PERM labor certification requirements with your employer
For Green Card sponsorship through EB-2 or EB-3, Apple must complete a PERM labor certification through DOL before filing your immigrant petition. Ask your hiring manager or HR contact early whether Apple's Mechanic roles are included in their standard Green Card sponsorship policy.

Find Mechanic at Apple JobsFrequently Asked Questions
Does Apple sponsor H-1B visas for Mechanics?
Yes, Apple sponsors H-1B visas for Mechanic roles where the position qualifies as a specialty occupation requiring at least a bachelor's degree or its equivalent in a relevant technical field. Roles tied to advanced systems, automation, or facilities engineering at Apple's data centers and major campuses are the most likely to meet USCIS specialty occupation standards.
How do I apply for Mechanic jobs at Apple?
Apply through Apple's official careers portal and filter by job function and location. Use Migrate Mate to identify Mechanic openings at Apple that are open to visa sponsorship before applying, so you're targeting roles with a clear sponsorship pathway. Tailor your application to highlight certifications and experience with the specific systems Apple uses in its facilities, retail, or data center operations.
Which visa types does Apple commonly use for Mechanic roles?
Apple sponsors H-1B, E-3, H-1B1, and TN visas for technical roles, with visa type depending on your nationality and the specific job duties. F-1 OPT and CPT are available for recent graduates in qualifying programs. For permanent residency, Apple uses the EB-2 and EB-3 categories with PERM labor certification through DOL for eligible Mechanic positions.
What qualifications does Apple expect for sponsored Mechanic roles?
Apple typically looks for journeyman-level or higher trade qualifications combined with experience on commercial or industrial equipment. Certifications in electrical systems, HVAC, building automation, or industrial controls strengthen your application significantly. For H-1B sponsorship specifically, your role and credentials need to satisfy USCIS specialty occupation criteria, which generally means a degree or its equivalent in a relevant technical discipline.
How do I time my Mechanic job search around H-1B filing deadlines?
The H-1B cap registration window typically opens in March, with employment start dates no earlier than October 1. To meet that timeline, you need an offer and a signed employer agreement well before March. If you're currently on F-1 OPT, confirm your OPT expiration date and whether your program qualifies for the 24-month STEM extension, which can give you more runway to secure and complete the H-1B process at Apple.
