INTRODUCTION
We are looking for a Senior Product Manager to join our Environmental and Manufacturing Systems team. You will be responsible for the product strategy, roadmap, and execution to streamline, analyze, and drive decisions. This means creating intuitive experiences for extremely complex and nuanced data sets, collaborating with internal clients and engineering - and heavily leveraging AI tools and Frontier LLMs - to bring a early stage product to a larger market.
We work cross-functionally and you will partner daily with our engineers (AI and traditional software), designers, environmental experts, Apple system owners, and stakeholders to build impactful software products, specifically unlocking new product experiences. We believe in going deep on user research and data analysis to decide where we should go next with our products, we believe in delivering iterative features quickly and continuously improving our products and processes, and we are a strong design and product-led organization. We love talking to and working with our users every day to enable them to do their best work.
We want someone that has experience taking an idea from the whiteboard to production and then scale it. You are going to get to do that again here.
ROLE AND RESPONSIBILITIES

- 5+ years of product management experience, preferably building complex tools and systems
- 8+ years experience working with software product teams, either in a product role, or design or engineering
- Professional experience building AI products using MCP and Agents

- Demonstrated ability to craft and effectively communicate a product vision, strategy, and roadmap, and the ability to inspire the product team to execute upon these artifacts
- Demonstrated use of user research, usability studies, analytics and data to drive business decisions and prioritize, as well as the ability to distill this work quickly into impactful decisions that move the team and product forward
- Demonstrated ability to work closely with software engineers and designers, engage in thoughtful and respectful debate, and prioritize among competing needs
- Experience with complex business processes, auditable data management, consumer product design, and environmental mechanical design & engineering is not required - but you must have an interest in learning about these areas and becoming deeply familiar with this domain
Preferred Qualifications
- Craft and set the product vision & strategy
- Create use cases and user stories and communicate them effectively to both design and software engineering
- Build and prioritize an ambitious but iterative roadmap that balances user needs with business and stakeholder priorities, as well as team needs

- Deeply understand and empathize with our users’ needs and pain points
- Present and communicate product decisions, roadmaps, and long-term goals to the product team, stakeholder groups, and organizational leadership

Align your portfolio to Apple's hardware-software stack
Apple's Product Software Engineers work close to the metal, often owning firmware, OS integration, or device-specific frameworks. Build or document projects involving embedded systems, real-time performance, or platform-level APIs before you apply.
Target roles by Apple product line
Apple's software engineering org is structured around product families. Searching by iPhone, Mac, or wearables in job listings surfaces roles with different visa sponsorship histories, letting you focus where your background fits strongest.
Use Migrate Mate to filter Apple's open roles by visa type
Not every Apple posting explicitly states sponsorship eligibility. Migrate Mate lets you filter Product Software Engineer openings at Apple by the visa categories they sponsor, so you're only spending time on roles that match your status.
Understand Apple's LCA filing timing before your offer stage
Apple files a Labor Condition Application with DOL before submitting any H-1B petition. This step certifies your prevailing wage and worksite. Knowing it exists helps you ask the right questions about your start date without blindsiding the recruiter.
Clarify OPT STEM extension eligibility early in your job search
Apple is E-Verify enrolled, which is required for F-1 students to use the 24-month STEM OPT extension. Confirm your degree field meets DHS STEM designation criteria before your OPT start date so there's no gap when negotiating a start date with Apple.
Prepare for Apple's engineering interviews before raising visa topics
Apple's Product Software Engineer process typically involves multiple technical rounds covering systems design, algorithms, and platform-specific depth. Nail those rounds first. Visa conversations happen at the offer stage, not during technical screening.
Frequently Asked Questions
Does Apple sponsor H-1B visas for Product Software Engineers?
Yes, Apple sponsors H-1B visas for Product Software Engineers. The company participates in the annual H-1B lottery each April for cap-subject candidates and also hires on cap-exempt bases in some cases. If you're already in H-1B visa status with another employer, Apple can file an H-1B transfer, letting you start work as soon as USCIS receives the petition rather than waiting for approval.
How do I apply for Product Software Engineer jobs at Apple?
Apply directly through Apple's careers site, where postings are organized by product area and engineering discipline. Tailor your resume to the specific hardware-software focus of each role. For international candidates, Migrate Mate surfaces Apple's Product Software Engineer openings filtered by visa type, so you can prioritize roles that match your sponsorship situation before investing time in the application.
Which visa types does Apple commonly sponsor for Product Software Engineer roles?
Apple sponsors H-1B, H-1B1 visa for Chilean and Singaporean nationals, E-3 visa for Australian citizens, and TN visa for Canadian and Mexican engineers qualifying under NAFTA/USMCA categories. For F-1 students, Apple's E-Verify enrollment supports both OPT and the 24-month STEM OPT extension. For permanent residence, Apple files employment-based Green Card petitions under EB-2 and EB-3 classifications through the PERM labor certification process.
What qualifications does Apple expect for Product Software Engineer roles?
Apple's Product Software Engineer postings typically expect a bachelor's degree or higher in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or a closely related field. Depth in one or more areas matters more than breadth: low-level programming, OS internals, device driver development, or real-time systems are common requirements. Candidates with experience shipping software that runs on physical hardware, not just cloud services, tend to be competitive for these roles.
How do I understand the visa filing timeline after receiving an Apple offer?
Timeline depends on which visa category applies to your situation. For H-1B cap-subject cases, Apple must file during the April registration window with an October 1 start date. E-3 and TN petitions move faster, often processed at a U.S. consulate or port of entry within weeks. After you accept an offer, Apple's immigration team coordinates with outside counsel, but understanding USCIS processing stages in advance helps you plan your start date realistically.
