Frame your experience around embedded systems depth
Micron's Product Software Engineer roles sit at the intersection of hardware and software. Highlight firmware development, device driver work, or NAND and DRAM interface experience on your resume so recruiters can map your background directly to their product lines.
Target roles tied to specific product families
Micron organizes its engineering teams around memory products like DRAM, NAND, and SSDs. Applying to openings that name a specific product line, rather than general software roles, puts you in front of hiring managers who already have a defined headcount and sponsorship budget.
Verify your employer's E-Verify enrollment before signing
H-1B cap-exempt and cap-subject petitions both require the sponsoring employer to participate in E-Verify. Confirm Micron's current enrollment status through the official E-Verify employer search before you accept an offer to avoid processing delays.
Align your timeline with the H-1B cap registration window
USCIS opens H-1B cap registration each March for an October 1 start date. If you're on OPT or a grace period, structure your interview timeline so you have an offer in hand before the registration window opens, giving Micron's legal team enough lead time to register you.
Use Migrate Mate to filter open roles by sponsorship history
Sorting through job boards for roles that genuinely support visa sponsorship wastes time. Use Migrate Mate to browse Product Software Engineer openings at Micron Technology already filtered by verified sponsorship track record, so every application you send is to a role worth pursuing.
Prepare for the PERM process if you're targeting a Green Card
Micron sponsors EB-2 and EB-3 Green Cards for engineering staff. PERM requires DOL to certify that no qualified U.S. worker was displaced, so be ready to document how your specialized memory or storage software skills match the exact requirements listed in the job description.
Frequently Asked Questions
Does Micron Technology sponsor H-1B visas for Product Software Engineers?
Yes. Micron Technology has a well-established pattern of sponsoring H-1B visas for Product Software Engineers, particularly for roles involving firmware, embedded software, and memory product development. The company works with experienced immigration counsel to handle cap-subject petitions and has consistently participated in the annual H-1B registration process for engineering talent.
Which visa types does Micron Technology commonly use for Product Software Engineer roles?
Micron sponsors H-1B visas for most Product Software Engineer hires requiring work authorization. H-1B1 visa sponsorship is also available for eligible Singaporean and Chilean nationals. For longer-term immigration, Micron supports EB-2 and EB-3 employment-based Green Card petitions through the PERM labor certification process, which is common for engineers in specialized memory and storage product roles.
What qualifications and experience does Micron Technology expect for Product Software Engineers?
Micron typically looks for a bachelor's or master's degree in Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or Computer Science. Practical experience with embedded C or C++, firmware development, device drivers, or hardware-software integration is heavily weighted. Familiarity with NAND flash, DRAM architecture, or SSD controller software is a strong differentiator for roles tied to Micron's core memory and storage product lines.
How do I apply for Product Software Engineer jobs at Micron Technology?
You can find and apply for Product Software Engineer openings at Micron Technology through their careers portal. To focus specifically on roles with confirmed visa sponsorship support, browse Migrate Mate's curated listing of Micron Technology positions filtered by sponsorship history. Tailor your resume to the specific product area listed in the job posting, since Micron's engineering teams are organized by product family rather than as a single software group.
How long does the visa sponsorship process take at Micron Technology for a new hire?
For H-1B cap-subject cases, the timeline runs from USCIS registration in March through an October 1 start date, meaning the full cycle from offer to authorized work is roughly five to seven months. If you're transferring an existing H-1B from another employer, you can start at Micron once USCIS receives the petition. PERM-based Green Card sponsorship typically begins after one to two years of employment and the full process can span several years depending on your priority date.
