Align your portfolio to memory architecture
Micron's Architect roles center on DRAM, NAND, and emerging memory systems. Tailor your portfolio to show silicon or system-level architecture work in these domains before you apply. Generic compute architecture experience is less competitive here.
Verify your degree field before applying
H-1B specialty occupation approval requires your degree to directly match the role. For Architect positions at Micron, a degree in electrical engineering, computer engineering, or a closely related field strengthens your petition. A mismatch is a common RFE trigger at USCIS.
Target Micron sites with open architecture headcount
Micron hires Architects across Boise, San Jose, and Folsom locations. Use Migrate Mate to filter Architect openings at Micron by location so you can prioritize sites actively recruiting, rather than applying broadly across all postings.
Understand Micron's LCA filing timeline
Your employer must file a certified Labor Condition Application with DOL before your H-1B petition reaches USCIS. At Micron, this step is typically handled internally, but you should confirm the prevailing wage level tied to your specific Architect job title and location.
Distinguish EB-2 from EB-3 early in negotiations
Micron sponsors both EB-2 and EB-3 green card paths for engineering roles. Architects with advanced degrees or demonstrated exceptional contributions in semiconductor design may qualify for EB-2, which avoids PERM labor certification and can significantly shorten your permanent residency timeline.
Use the 60-day grace period strategically if you switch
If you're changing employers to join Micron on H-1B, you have 60 days after your previous employment ends to maintain status. Micron's legal team typically files a transfer petition, but confirm premium processing availability with your recruiter to avoid a status gap.

Find Architect at Micron Technology JobsFrequently Asked Questions
Does Micron Technology sponsor H-1B visas for Architects?
Yes, Micron Technology sponsors H-1B visas for Architect roles. The company works with immigration counsel to handle LCA filings through DOL and subsequent H-1B petitions through USCIS. Sponsorship is standard for qualifying architecture positions, particularly in hardware and memory systems design, across Micron's U.S. engineering sites.
Which visa types does Micron Technology use for Architect roles?
Micron sponsors H-1B and H-1B1 visas for nonimmigrant work authorization in Architect roles. For permanent residency, the company supports EB-2 and EB-3 immigrant visa petitions. Architects with advanced degrees in electrical or computer engineering may be eligible for the EB-2 category, which can bypass the PERM labor certification process in some cases.
What qualifications does Micron Technology expect for Architect roles?
Micron's Architect positions typically require a bachelor's or master's degree in electrical engineering, computer engineering, or a related field. Hands-on experience with memory systems, silicon architecture, or SoC design is expected. For senior roles, a track record of contributing to DRAM or NAND architecture, published patents, or cross-functional design leadership is commonly preferred.
How do I apply for Architect jobs at Micron Technology?
Search for open Architect positions through Micron's careers portal or use Migrate Mate to browse and filter Micron's current Architect openings by location and visa sponsorship type. Tailor your resume to reflect memory or silicon architecture experience and be prepared for a multi-round technical interview process covering system design and domain-specific architecture knowledge.
How do I plan the timeline for H-1B sponsorship at Micron Technology?
H-1B cap-subject petitions are filed once per year, with USCIS registration opening in March for an October 1 start date. If you receive an offer from Micron outside this window, the company may file for a cap-exempt transfer if you currently hold H-1B status. Plan your job search to align with the annual registration cycle and confirm premium processing with your recruiter to manage uncertainty.
