What success looks like in this role:
- Provide operational and technical support for assigned data center computer systems and associated peripheral equipment.
- Monitor performance of online systems using software support tools to complete all scheduled jobs in a timely manner.
- Perform standard maintenance and repair.
- Interface with clients and appropriate support groups to escalate issues for resolution.
- Reassign job priorities according to precedent, policy, and procedures.
- Participate in on-call rotation; respond to alerts and systems issues.
- Update systems and applications.
- Partner with vendors and component suppliers to replace or repair failed equipment.
- Support system installation and decommission processes, following standard approved ITIL Change Management procedures.
- Track assets, manage configuration, and maintain physical equipment locations and connections using DCIM tools.
- Install equipment on the data center floor; request and oversee power, network, SAN, and KVM connections.
- Manage change and request processes for data center facility changes and maintenance.
- Support data cabling including network, SAN, KVM, or remote out-of-band management systems, and manage cabling contractors.
- Provide backup support for break-fix issues and configuration for servers and other devices.
- Provide technical support and hardware maintenance.
- Receive shipments for all inbound equipment for one or more data centers.
- Complete tickets to meet or exceed SLA requirements, and process service and change requests.
- Prepare documentation for installations, floor plans, rack or cabinet diagrams, and manage existing documentation for new installations.
- Prepare for asset disposal by performing manual labor to move equipment.
- Provides a high level of operational and technical support for one or more computer systems and peripheral equipment.
- Monitors performance of systems utilizing software support tools.
- Ensures emergency operating procedures are maintained.
- Interfaces with clients and appropriate support groups to resolve complex issues.
- Depending on assignment, may handle hardware or software support for associated data center equipment.
- Leverages maintenance agreements and warranties to keep systems in optimal state.
You will be successful in this role if you have:
- High School Diploma or equivalent.
- Participation in an on-call roster.
- Availability to travel between locations within a 250-mile radius (when required).
- Experience with an enterprise IT service management tool.
- Minimum 1 year of experience in IT, technical support, and data center operations, including rack, stack, and server provisioning.
- Experience with network cable management (copper cable, fiber optic cabling).
- Facilities planning experience (space, power, and cooling).
- Certifications such as CompTIA Server+, Cisco CCNA, or Microsoft Azure Fundamentals are considered a plus.
